The Role

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Operations Data & Analytics department in Hyderabad, India. In this role you will deliver deep insights and analytics in the world’s largest online gaming company. You will work with a variety of functions such as customer support, fraud, safer gambling, onboarding, and more. The value your insights generate will shape the future of online gaming by having a tangible impact on our players’ experience and our business’ direction.

You will query large volumes of behavioural data from our databases to create actionable insights focused on business value, communicating and delivering your recommendations in a high quality and professional manner to senior managers, department heads and directors. You will help drive our multi-brand strategy by providing ad-hoc analytics and insights for business questions across our brands, automate manual tasks such as reporting through dashboards and help establish and call-out key performance indicators.

In this role, you will do:

  • Data Extraction & Management: Thoughtfully retrieve data from various database environments (AWS, MS SQL Server, Azure, IBM DB2) with expert command of SQL, ensuring a solid foundation for subsequent analysis and insights
  • Data Processing & Analysis: Able to employ statistical methods in Python and Excel to dissect and interpret complex data
  • Trend Identification: Detect and analyse patterns, providing actionable insights and projecting their business and customer impact
  • Data Visualisation and Presentation: Craft compelling, well-written, visually pleasing presentations and data visualisations (including infographics) that consolidate your analysis’ findings for strategic decision-making by leadership and are clear for a varied audience, including support teams, regulatory bodies and senior leadership – we want to celebrate and show-off your hard work, after all!
  • Dashboards: Create dynamic and automated dashboards to supervise customer behaviour and detect unusual changes / activities, enhancing decision-making capabilities of teams
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with global business units, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of the business to provide informed insights.
  • Data Validation & Hypothesis Testing: Perform validation tests (Precision/Recall/Sensitivity/ROC curves/correlation tests) and hypothesis tests (z-test/t-test/ANOVA/chi-square).
  • Data Preparation: Conduct data exploration, cleaning, and preprocessing tasks to prepare structured and unstructured data for analysis.
  • Advanced Analytics: Apply advanced analytics concepts towards rich insights and key financial and strategic decisions.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience as a data analyst or business analyst
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (science, economics, engineering, mathematics)
  • Proficient in SQL and confident in constructing complex queries
  • Expert with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficient with data visualisation tools (such as PowerPoint, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
  • Experience in presenting analytical reports to stakeholders
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python preferred); web/ETL technologies is a plus
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies (e.g., MS SQL Server Management Studio, Amazon Redshift) is a plus
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods (e.g., hypothesis testing, causal impact, regression analysis, time series analysis, or similar) is a plus
  • Experience working in global industries like gaming, technology and product-based companies
  • High proficiency in data visualisation and analysis, with experience in tools such as Microstrategy, Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc.
  • Self-starter with ability to multitask and prioritise feature work (with helpful input of manager)
  • Experience with tools like Confluence, Jira, Asana or equivalent
  • Experience with big data analytics, identifying trends, patterns, and outliers in large volumes of data
  • Ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders/clients
  • Ability to document complex tasks in a lucid and comprehensive fashion
  • Ability to adapt and learn new tools with an end goal of prescriptive analytics
  • Certifications (MOOCs) on Data Analysis, Python, SQL, ETL, DSA, ML/DL, Data Science, etc. are desirable
  • Preference for candidates from Tier-I colleges like IITs, NITs, BITs, etc. but not necessary with strong experience and skills
