ABOUT THE POSITION
In this position you'll be working as a fully embedded consultant at Amazon. The IDEAS team, part of the TES Benchmarking group, is looking for a BIE/DE with AWS experience that can support our existing data infrastructure and make improvements to ETL solutions and data pipelines. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented, a good communicator and an excellent problem solver. As part of a small team developing analytical solutions for the Transportation Engineering Services Organization, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams and stakeholders. We prioritize cooperation, frequent and open communication, and stress the importance of peer support so that we can learn from each other succeed as a united team. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Able to read, write, and debug Python code following best coding standards (e.g. version controlled, code reviewed, etc.)
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, Lambda, CloudWatch, Step Function, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and manage AWS resources
- Experience working within an Amazon team with knowledge of Andes 3, Lake Formation, and Shepherd tickets
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and experience working in an agile environment
- Experience with AWS CodePipeline and AWS CodeBuild a plus
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the existing data infrastructure, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing components
- Implement improvements and optimizations to the current data architecture to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability
- Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines using AWS services like Glue, EMR, Athena, and Redshift to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources
- Collaborate with data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and other cross-functional teams to define and execute data strategies that support the broader business objectives
- Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of the data environment
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in data engineering, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the data ecosystem
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve data quality, and streamline data workflows
- Document data pipeline designs, data models, and operational procedures to maintain knowledge sharing and ease of maintenance

Pay Range: $80,000-$120,000
• PTO – 3 weeks (accrual)
