Cloud Database Engineer

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Cloud Database Engineer, you will:

  • Design and implement optimized database structures for maximum performance on various platforms.
  • Optimize queries by tuning indexes, caching mechanisms, and other techniques.
  • Implement backup strategies to ensure data integrity.
  • Migrate existing databases to cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices around security and access controls.
  • Automate processes using automated testing frameworks like Selenium, Cypress, or Webdriver IO.
  • Develop unit tests with JUnit or Pytest.
  • Utilize version control systems like GitLab CI/CD pipelines for efficient code management.
     

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Cloud Database Engineer if your background includes:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of database structures and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience migrating legacy systems to cloud computing platforms like AWS or GCP.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively both verbally and in written form.
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently within a team environment.
  • Working experience with Agile Methodology.
  • Certification in major database technologies such as Oracle Certified Professional DBA (OCPDBA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), PostgreSQL Certified Professional (PGCertP) or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
