Job Overview

Sr. Data Reporting Analyst is responsible for the creation, management, and enhancement of scalable data models that support the varied data consumption needs of the organization. This role will also be responsible for capturing and understanding the data requirements, profiling data, developing conceptual, logical and physical data models, ensuring data quality, building business intelligence and analytical solutions.  
 

Essential Functions

  • Determine best practices and develop actionable data-driven insights and recommendations to support the organizational decision-making process. May be requested to create executive summaries, executive briefings and benchmark reports. 
  • Work with departments to define business problems and questions; perform analysis. Provide technical writing support.
  • Collaborate with data architect or application specialists to identify the data sources required to support an analytical project or development of a complex report. 
  • Research, collect, develop, and implement data analysis for gap, competition landscape, and infrastructure alignment.
  • Utilize ETL tools to automate standard reporting.
  • Evaluate diverse data sets, identify new types of data and data sources to determine patterns; synthesize data into meaningful metrics and numbers; monitor data quality, identify inconsistencies, and develop recommendations to optimize business processes and performance. 
  • Develop load plans using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), or similar program, to quickly demonstrate new concepts, reports and dashboards; utilize reporting tools (i.e. OBIEE/OBIA) to build reports and dashboards. 
  • May create and maintain dashboards in Tableau to solve business problems.
  • May monitor fund balances and budget reporting. May coordinate with department, technical teams, business divisions, and faculty for funding opportunities, notifying management and relevant faculty.
  • May maintain databases for analyzing sponsored research productivity.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of experience in reporting, ETL processing and/or background in complex data analysis techniques.

Additional Qualifications Considered

•    Bachelor's degree in computer science, analytics, data science, or a related field.
•    7+ years of proven experience as a Report/Analytics Developer, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Modeler, or similar role 
•    Experience leveraging tools like Erwin, ER Studio, Tableau, Power BI, and Qlik.
•    Deep experience in creating data models, reports and dashboards and providing data insights.
•    Proficient in SQL along with 3+ years of experience leveraging data integration and data quality tools like Informatica.
•    Experience working in Data Warehouse and Data Lakehouse in a cloud setting (AWS, Azure, Snowflake).
•    Advanced understanding of data normalization and denormalization techniques.
•    Strong skills and knowledge in all aspects of data movement from source to consumption, dealing with structured, un-structured, and semi-structured data.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•    Attention to detail and the ability to work with complex datasets.
•    Prefer knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector.
