About the Projects: At Kitware, we work with a variety of healthcare datasets, including clinical data (EHR, medical imaging, laboratory results, medication records, vital signs, clinical notes ), patient-generated health data (wearable device and remote patient monitoring) and research data (clinical trial and biobank data). The projects involve data management, exploration, and the integration of these multimodal data to derive actionable insights and improve patient outcomes. Our research projects involve collaborations with top research institutions, including Harvard Medical School, MIT, Cleveland Clinic, Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and others, and build on open-source platforms.
About the Role:As a Software Engineer with Healthcare Data Science experience, you will contribute to developing and implementing robust healthcare research software systems, leveraging your technical expertise in data science, machine learning, and visualization. You will play an integral role in managing and analyzing complex healthcare datasets, designing predictive models, and contributing to creating data-driven healthcare applications. Your work will directly impact the development of next-generation medical software and tools.

In This Position You Will:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement healthcare data solutions.
  • Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models and algorithms on healthcare datasets.
  • Build scalable data pipelines to manage and process large volumes of healthcare data.
  • Develop visualizations to present complex data insights to medical professionals and researchers.
  • Work with open-source platforms to create innovative healthcare applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field emphasizing data science.
  • Experience working with healthcare data (e.g., EHR, imaging, or clinical trial data).
  • Outstanding skills in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques.
  • Mastery-level knowledge of Python data visualization and analysis libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, SciPy, scikit-learn, or Pandas).
  • Strong understanding of data management and processing, particularly with large datasets.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Due to contractual restrictions, only US Citizens will be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Kitware’s open-source platforms such as VTK, ITK, or 3D Slicer.
  • Experience with cloud application development.
  • Knowledge of healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, DICOM).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing and deploying healthcare applications on cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and their application in healthcare.
