We are seeking a Data Analyst who will facilitate analyses for several cross-sectional and longitudinal studies on sex work, drug checking, substance use and HIV/STI risk. The analyst will work closely with study investigators and other research team members (e.g. Study Directors and staff) to support the conduct of the research. The incumbent will help manage, analyze, interpret, and report study findings. Analyses will be used in presentations, reports, and manuscripts. In addition to analyzing primary and secondary data, the analyst will also collect primary data and help investigators develop questionnaires and surveys.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Developing and implementing QA/QC procedures (including data checking and data cleaning).
  • Merging datasets; creating and re-coding variables.
  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using several standard statistical techniques (e.g., regression and longitudinal data analysis).
  • Presenting and summarizing analyses in various formats including raw output, tables, and graphics, oral and written reports.
  • Participating in study and analysis meetings.
  • Supporting study implementation and overall instrumentation.
  • Facilitating primary data collection.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in at least one major statistical analytical language (e.g., SAS, Stata, SPSS, R) as well as Microsoft Office software.
  • Demonstrating excellent organizational, communication and writing skills.
  • Supporting IRB submissions, revisions, and renewals.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related discipline.
  • Experience using REDCap or other database management software.
  • Experience analyzing survey data.
  • Experience programming using STATA.
  • Experience with substance use or HIV/STI research and writing research manuscripts.
