The appointee will assist the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning (CISL) and the General Education (GE) Office in conducting data and impact analyses and executing quality assurance work for service-learning (SL) courses, GE Programme and other relevant initiatives.
Manager (Functional title: Education Data Analyst) (23240946)
Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, coordinate and implement data-driven (quantitative and qualitative) quality assurance work for SL courses and initiatives, and the GE Programme/courses;
- Fulfill the statistical needs of the University and relevant units by initiating and overseeing data-analytic tasks and offering evidence-based pedagogic implications;
- Propose data-informed strategies, staff development events, academic conferences and other insightful initiatives for fostering knowledge exchange and capacity building in SL and GE in higher education;
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in academic, education and service-learning projects;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisors; and
- Occasional travelling may be required.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree, preferably a higher qualification, in one of the following areas: any branches of Data Science (e.g. Statistics, Data Analytics), Education-related disciplines, or disciplines with strong quantitative and qualitative research elements;
- At least seven years of post-qualification work experience; experience in higher education settings involving programme management, teaching and/or delivery of courses, including service-learning will be an advantage;
- Proficient in conducting quantitative and qualitative evaluation and analysing data using relevant computer software and applications (including SPSS, SAS, R Python, and NVivo and/or MAXQDA);
- Familiar with AI concepts and LLMs, and experienced in utilising AI and AI-based applications will be an asset;
- Proven organisational and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of responsibility, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with people at different levels;
- Self-motivated and attentive to details, able to meet deadlines and to work independently in a team and under pressure;
- Advanced level of MS Excel with strong numerical and analytical sense; and
- Proficient in both spoken and written Chinese and English (Putonghua is a plus).
This position is at the Manager level. Candidates with lesser experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Manager (functional title: Assistant Education Data Analyst).
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
