We are seeking an MS Power BI and Data Transformation Specialist to join our team supporting a federal health agency. The client is a dedicated organization to achieving administrative efficiencies through applied information technology. We have been actively developing new resources to automate workflows, provide advanced business intelligence and reporting, and to create a central intranet resource to singularly house all policy, guidance, forms, workflows, reports, dashboards, and links to applications used by client/customer staff.

*This is a 100% remote position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing and developing reporting and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Data Analysis and Transformation:
    • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into Power BI.
    • Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
    • Develop and maintain data models and data flows.
  • Power BI Development:
    • Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
    • Implement DAX queries and functions to enhance data analysis capabilities.
    • Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and usability.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
    • Provide QC and UAT support to stakeholders (client and customer/end-users) on Power BI reports.
    • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI tools and reports.
    • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and industry best practices.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
    • Participate in data governance and quality initiatives.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience in developing and deploying custom solutions in Microsoft Product Suite, including SharePoint, Power Apps, Power BI, and Dynamics.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and Power Query
  • Experience supporting solutions involving integrations with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience with data integration into Dynamics from a K2 legacy application.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment including Sprint meetings and various requirement-gathering meetings for the team.
  • Experience with application demos and regular status reports to executives and staff.
  • Experience with federal health agency accounting, organizational and HR data sources, taxonomy and reporting systems preferred or familiarity with similar systems with organizations of similar size and complexity.

Job Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and development experience in MS Power BI
  • Strong understanding of data transformation techniques and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with Role-Based Access Control.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and SharePoint Online, 2016
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Knowledge of federal Microsoft tenancy protocols, security, and operating procedures preferred or familiarity with similar aspects with organizations of similar size and complexity.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, or a related field is required. Alternative work-related experience, Military Duty and/or specialized or higher education may be substituted.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Microsoft Power BI certification preferred

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Ability to write clear and concise creative content in a highly confidential manner.
  • Ability to work with dispersed teams.
  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.

Travel:

  • Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
