The Global Communications Group is the central Forum team dedicated to communications with the public, media, stakeholders and staff in relation to the Forum’s mission. Through multiple channels, the Group is responsible for communicating the work of the Forum and its constituents, reaching, growing, engaging and inspiring diverse and interested audiences.

Why we are recruiting

The Group is expanding and consolidating its strategy. It is composed of four key functions: Communication Strategy and Coordination, Public Engagement, Media Engagement, and Stakeholder and Staff Engagement. It is searching for a Data Architecture Specialist within the Communication Strategy and Coordination unit to contribute to the design and delivery of a data-driven strategy to measure and enhance the Forum’s communications impact.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The role will report to the Head of Metrics, Communication Strategy and Coordination. Internally, it will liaise with key counterparts across the Global Communications Group and the Forum’s Technology teams. Externally, it might liaise with a broad range of stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis, including external consultancies and/or insights and technology providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain an overview of the data model for content stored uniquely on the Public Website, and of the ways in which content is curated through metadata synced and fused across systems used for content management such as Salesforce

  • Develop a dashboard of current data quality, and conduct regular checks in coordination with Content production teams and data entry consultants

  • Support content architecture transition projects in close collaboration with the Forum’s Engineering teams, external consultants, the Public Website team, Content Creator user groups and the metrics team

  • Maintain topical and functional taxonomies and draft protocols for applying those to communications materials

  • Coordinate the refinement of repositories of media assets (blogs, videos, reports and more) leveraging existing databases and APIs

  • Input into tickets for data-focused developments on the public website

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including data, insights, and technology providers and consultants

  • Identify and remain at the forefront of the latest data and analytics trends.

  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of emerging trends relating to the topics covered by the Forum’s work.

  • Act as a trusted Global Communications Group team member, developing trusted internal relationships across the team and the organization.

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • The ability to create accurate mapping of content metadata and taxonomies and to identify areas of improvement

  • Drive data quality and transition projects for content repositories, representing the needs of the Global Communications Group

  • Recommend workflows for multi-media asset tagging and support their socialisation

  • Supporting the overall implementation of a refreshed website strategy and adjacent metrics strategy and contributing to its ongoing development through thoughtful suggestions for innovation within the technical components of reporting.

  • Ability to collaborate efficiently and transparently within the team and across the organization as a strong team player.

  • Strong understanding of the Forum’s mission and impact.

  • Keeping abreast of relevant issues, developments, initiatives, and stakeholders pertinent to the Forum’s mission and impact-related work; Ongoing learning of the product and data landscape: offline and online, across social and traditional media.

Required qualifications

  • Advanced degree in data science, information technology, information management, marketing, computer science or a related field in business and management or marketing, with demonstrable specialization in information systems and data management. Candidates who have completed digital accreditations or taken different routes to upskilling are welcome to apply.

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience

  • Excellent attention to detail, process analysis, critical thinking and analytic skills, with a proven capacity to handle complexity with ease and to apply a growth mindset to new challenges.

  • It would be beneficial to have proficiency in at least one computing language such as SQL and Python and the ambition to take on new learning as necessary.

  • Experience with a range of CMS systems.

  • Experience with data management systems and data security is a plus but will not be required for this role as this is already serviced by the Forum’s Data Engineering team.

  • Strong mission orientation and a focus on supporting a public-goods agenda

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Robust interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong, constructive relationships internally and with providers.
