Senior Software Engineer - 6 month Contract - Inside IR35

This role is a hybrid position requiring 2 days per week onsite in Glasgow offices.

bigspark, a UK based consultancy delivering next level data platforms and solutions with a focus on exciting technologies including Apache Spark, Apache Kafka and working on projects within Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Streaming and Data Science is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a contract basis for a period of 6 months.

We provide the backbone for modern analytics to our clients through expertise in DevOps, distributed computing, machine learning and adoption of proven open source projects. We specialise in backend development, infrastructure automation and performance engineering for data workloads at scale.

Skills and experience required:

• Java development experience
• Python development experience
• ORM
• Experience of microservices architecture and building stateful, RESTful, pub/sub services
• Experience of event driven architecture and technologies - Kafka, MQ,
• Expertise in Kubernetes deployed services
• DevOps toolchain - Container registry, CI/CD
• Metrics / Logging / Telemetry export and management - Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Zipkin
• AWS expertise - Networking, Load Balancing, API gateway, EKS / Fargate

The following experience would be a bonus.

• IAC development - Terraform
• Apache Airflow knowledge
• Apache Spark and Databricks platform knowledge
• Apache Kafka expertise - Schema registry,
• Scala development experience
• node.js development experience
