Apogee Engineering, LLC is actively seeking a full-time Model-Based System Engineer in Digital Engineering supporting Space Systems Command (SSC) Ground
Systems Engineering and Integration Support (GSIS). The contractor shall provide expertise in emerging and cutting-edge technologies and provide detailed recommendations for technology adoption from the academic, commercial, and/or other Government sector.

This is a full time hybrid position located at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

What you will be doing:

  • As a Model-Based System Engineer on our team, you will work with colleagues to build the most innovative solutions to empower your clients to develop and deploy the next generation of space systems from Space Force clients.

  • Support the processes, procedures, and requirements needs for a Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) for the SSC with shared toolsets, collaborative models, and other virtual capabilities accessed through user devices (e.g., desktops)
  • Support programs on all classification levels
  • Work with program offices across SSC to identify digital engineering needs, and recommended standards, and integrate/coordinate solutions
  • Develop a capability-specific DEE Roadmap and Strategy for implementing digital engineering at SSC
  • Grow your skills by researching new requirements, technologies, and threats, and using innovative engineering methodologies and tools to create tomorrow’s solutions

  • Combine your technical skills with big-picture thinking to make an impact on national security space or future manned space mission
  • improve the state of the art with digital engineering 
Minimum Requirements:    Citizenship: Must be a US citizen Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearance Education: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical field Years of experience: 3 years relevant experience to include:
  • Experience with systems engineering on large-scale space, ground, software, or hardware systems, or Major Defense Acquisition Programs
  • Experience supporting overall engineering integration of Systems Engineering and Integration efforts for the Satellite Control Network, DoD, government agencies, or commercial programs
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools such as Magic Draw, Cameo, or SysML
  • Working knowledge of Linux, C++, Python, Perl, and Java
Preferred Requirements:
  Certifications: OMG Certified Systems Model Professional (OCSMP) or INCOSE SE Certification
Education:
Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical field Years of Experience: 5 years experience with:
  • Experience with MATLAB, STK, ModelCenter, or Teamcenter
  • Experience with Space Systems Command (SSC), or Air Force Research Lab (AFRL)
  • Experience with programming or automating with MBSE toolsets, and utilizing their APIs to build additional capabilities not built into the tool
  • Experience building digital twins
  • Knowledge of Systems Machine Learning (SysML) and DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Knowledge of the use cases of AI and how they could apply to digital engineering challenges
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical risks and issues, develop technical reports, and collaborate with government and other stakeholders to implement recommended solutions ​

Regular part-time employees scheduled for twenty-four or more hours per work week are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis 
  • The base pay for this position ranges from $68,000 to $115,000 across the U.S. There is a different range applicable for specific work locations. Base pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, training, and education
