Application Engineer (f/m/d)

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Application Engineer to join our team, responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from our test vehicles equipped with advanced sensors, including radar, cameras, and lidar scanners. The successful candidate will be proficient in programming languages such as Python and C++, with experience in data analysis, visualization, and statistical modeling. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, sensors, and data analytics, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Your role:

• Design, plan, and execute data collection experiments using our test vehicles equipped with radar sensors, cameras, and lidar scanners

• Record and upload data to a database, ensuring data quality and integrity

• Develop and maintain Python scripts to parse, analyze, and process large datasets

• Generate and visualize statistics, trends, and insights from the collected data using data visualization tools

• Visualize perception results online in the test vehicle using the existing runtime environment

• Compute key performance indicators for different vision perception features

• Drive the integration of sensors, loggers, gateways etc. into test vehicles

• Develop and maintain C++ programs to interface with sensor hardware, process data, and integrate with other systems

• Troubleshoot and debug issues with data collection, processing, and analysis

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automotive sensor data analysis and visualization

• Work in an agile and international SW development team

Your background:

• Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field

• Understanding of automotive systems, sensors, and data analytics

• Strong software development skills in Python

• Experience with the C++ programming language

• Passion for clean, high-quality, well-tested, and documented code

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders

• Practical experience with Linux, version control systems (e.g. Git), build systems (e.g. Bazel, CMake) and code review tools

• Knowledge of the Rust programming language

• Experience with machine learning, deep learning, or Computer Vision

• Experience with cloud-based data storage and processing solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines

• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, SAE J1939)

• Fluent in English
