Purpose:
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Operations Analytics & Business Intelligence team in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed & delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics & Business Intelligence, the Data Analyst assists with the design, development, deployment, and sustainment of data solutions and the technology roadmap – in support of the data strategy – to effectively monitor, assess, and deploy analytics & reporting solutions for internal partners across Global Operations and International Banking units.
The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the operational and strategic needs of the Analytics & Business intelligence program, and providing data analytics/reporting services to a variety of operating units across business functions and international geographies.

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Develops, deploys, and sustains data analytics / reporting solutions and associated data flows, in alignment with strategic and tactical needs of the business
• Leads sessions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather business requirements, identify root causes to problems, and recommend data solutions in support of business processes
• Develops and maintains strong knowledge of operational policies and procedures across Canadian Banking, International Banking, and other Global Operations units
• Actively contributes to ongoing projects and programs, ad-hoc initiatives, and partner workstreams across the GO Analytics & Business Intelligence service portfolio
• Documents, analyzes and recommends improvements to existing business processes with the aim of increasing process efficiency, improving productivity and/or reducing costs
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, finance, or another quantitative field (i.e. STEM)
• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, and/or reporting in the financial services industry
• Advanced knowledge of Power BI (DAX), Microsoft Excel (Power Query, Data modelling/Power Pivot, advanced formulas), and SharePoint (Data flow set up and maintenance)
• Experience with SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, SSMS) in querying, structuring tables, and interacting with relational databases
• Demonstrated experience in the following areas: dashboard development, operational and executive reporting, data analysis and visualization, KPI production, data management and governance
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluency in Spanish preferred
• Ability to manage multi-dimensional projects and workstreams from concept to completion within a matrix environment and across business lines
Work Arrangement:
• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
