About the role:

In this opportunity as Lead Software Engineer, you are a fit for this position if your background includes:

  • In this opportunity as a Lead Software Engineer, you will be part of a team working on development of a product which provides various solutions to our customers in their day to day operations using software.
  • You will work with other engineers on designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining products.
  • As part of your role, you will also drive continuous improvement in software quality by introducing automated tests for existing code base. You will also ensure that the solution provided has high performance, scalability, reliability and security.
  • The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing new BI solutions, design and develop product enhancements, design of product functions, troubleshooting and resolving product defects, unit and integration testing.  
  • You will be responsible for enhancing and building features end to end for a BI application involving sourcing data from relational, non-relational databases, transforming using complex SQL queries and developing reports.
  • The candidate will need to be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail.
  • The candidate would also need to be comfortable learning new technologies and execute proof of concepts and technical evaluation of BI tools for evolving customer needs.
  • Participate in project/work planning sessions to analyze and understand requirements to the level of being able to contribute to their creation, in collaboration with capability/product and/or business owners.
  • Develop and integrate applications per specification and translate technical requirements into application code and modules
  • Approach development work with a DevOps and continuous integration mindset.
  • Ensure consistency with cloud architectural guiding principles for assigned projects
  • Mentor the team members                       

About you:

You're a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer if your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent work experience.
  • Overall IT work experience: Minimum 10 years of experience working in the technology industry in engineering roles.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in the technology industry in engineering roles.
  • Skills : Mandatory :  BI Developer (with experience in one or more BI tools)
  • Secondary : ETL, TIBCO Jaspersoft [Good to have]]
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing ETL pipelines and business intelligence / reporting solutions in products such as SAP BO, Tableau, TIBCO Jaspersoft. Willing to learn new BI tools such as Jaspersoft if you don't have prior experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in Object Oriented Programming (such as Java).
  • Strong understanding of data models and data warehousing principles.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with relational databases like Oracle, PostGres or similar handling large volume of data with complex transformation logic.
  • One or more of the following skills would be a great value-add for this role.
  • ETL development experience in technologies such Python, Spark.
  • Experience in cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge and experience in Javascript and Node framework.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with relational databases like Oracle, Postgres or similar handling large volume of data with complex transformation logic.
