Job Description
Job Summary:
As an organization jointly owned by the business and IT, the MST is a centralized and global organization that will provide operational support for an integrated, SAP-centric platform (Mercury) and manage and support the Mercury user community. The MST will play an integral governance role in the global Mercury solution and will evolve to work closely with the business to enable the benefit and value to be realized from the investment in Mercury and to set the future direction and technology road map.
Business Efficiency and Evolution is one of the four core functions of the MST. Business Efficiency and Evolution will work closely with the business and the Global Process Owners to set the strategic direction and road map for Mercury, enabling process efficiency and standardization through:
- centralized business process governance
- portfolio planning, demand management and prioritization
- analysis of business requirements and the identification of process improvement opportunities, aligned with business KPIs, which can be delivered via the Mercury solution
- robust governance, stewardship and audit of Mercury data
- effective governance and management of the Mercury control framework.
As a part of the Business Efficiency and Evolution function, the Data Governance Functional Lead plays a key role in driving the benefit and value from the Mercury solution. Working with key stakeholders in MST IT and Business functions, the Mercury Program, and firm wide Data Governance Stakeholders, the Data Governance Functional Lead is responsible for the implementation of the firm’s data management metrics and improvement strategies. This includes the enablement and support of data advocacy, stewardship and audit including the definition and implementation of standards, guidelines, approved workflow processes, systems and KPIs for key master data objects in Mercury scope.
Lead a team of functional data stewards in the design, implementation and enhancement of systems, tools and solutions to enable the MST data governance function. Accountability for enablement of data quality enhancement and effective data stewardship in line with defined Mercury / EY data standards and the agreed Mercury change and release management process. Ensure adoption and enforcement of best practices by implementing KPIs.
Success in the role will be evaluated based on the specific goals for implementation of data quality metrics and the direct, tangible cost reductions and business benefits derived from their continuous improvement activities.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Lead a team of data stewards in their activities to enable and support stakeholders of the data governance function.
- Manage the hierarches, and governance processes to ensure they are maintained, supported and meet current business requirements, including scheduled reviews and updates
- Maintain the current documentation which includes hierarchy, and master data definitions, standards and policies
- Provide expert knowledge through research and acquired business knowledge
- Determine and publish data quality standards and measures/KPIs for master data attribute
- Investigate, promote and recommend new uses and utilization of hierarchies, taxonomies, and governance processes
- Provide a business case and resource estimates for development work required for Governance processes and data quality profiling, monitoring and reporting
- Serve as contributor and subject area expert in the collaborative review of new data designs and development.
- Work with project management and enterprise architecture counter parts to ensure a unified strategy around hierarchies, reference data, and vocabularies
- Evaluate processes and procedures for adherence to the organization's quality standards by working with program functional teams to drive for requirement documentation.
- Provide input and guidance regarding master data and data quality standards and processes to business and solution teams
- Manage the master data governance processes
- Direct the development of governance workflow processes, and coordinate UAT and production roll-out
- Evaluate governance workflow requests to ensure adherence to EY global standards and policies
- Communicate all new, and changes to hierarchies and governance processes to the primary stakeholders and the user community
- Serve as the primary quality control analyst for all master data entities in the primary databases
- Develop and maintain data profiling and monitoring queries, routines and reports against all MDM to ensure a defined standard of data quality for master data attributes
- Audit and report data quality measures/KPIs against all systems to the business units, as they pertain to the master data attributes
- Escalate data management decisions that cannot be made easily or due to unresolved conflict
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

- Report on, and support through enforcement, the agreed and signed-off policies mandated by the Data governance policy.
- Identify data governance metrics and execute audits to benchmark the state of data quality, retention, security etc., and its impact on desired business outcomes.
- Regularly expose data governance metrics via standard reporting mechanisms (for example, data quality scorecard or dashboard).
- Engage with business leadership (key business managers, Talent leadership etc.), to quantify and articulate the business impact of violations of policy.
- Develop data quality methodologies to execute data quality improvement projects.
- Actively participate in the design and deployment of applications and data integration processes to ensure standards and controls, to ensure high-quality data is implemented in adherence with data governance policies.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

- Comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of data (or bad data) on the ability of the business to meet its objectives.
- Aptitude to gain in-depth knowledge of EY's systems, data and key business processes.
- Understanding of how data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes, derived from multiple years of exposure to the EY business setting.
- Extensive experience with SAP product landscape of C4C, CRM, Procurement, SDA, FICO and SAP MDM/MDG.
- Comfortable working knowledge on SAP ETL tools on SAP Data Services and Information Steward.
- Comprehensive understanding of data analytics solutions, data conversion implementations and tools, ERP data models, data warehouse models, data profiling techniques, ETL/data integration tools and technology, MDM solutions, and SDLC.
- Strong leadership and consensus-building skills at all levels in EY, from clerical positions to the senior leadership team
- Complex problem solving / conceptual thinking: Knowledge, skills and abilities needed to establish and refine the strategies that drive organizational performance and add value to the business
- Solid project management skills, to guide both point-in-time and ongoing targeted data quality solution implementation projects.
- Ability to perform and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure and with time constraints demonstrating strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working at low levels of detail, examining data and trends in values to understand variations and seek the root causes, to legitimize the trend or classify it as a data governance issue.
Supervision Responsibilities:

- Reports to the Mercury Support Solution Center Data Governance Lead
- Actively develops team members and direct reports by providing day-to-day guidance, feedback and on-the-job coaching
- Actively involved in the selection process of staff members

Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience in a global professional services firm performing data management and/or governance, system integration, implementing data analytics, warehouse, MDM and/or BI solutions in a
- Understanding of the end-to-end data life cycle requirements of key business processes.
- Direct experience in complex team management activities like deployment of SAP C4C, CRM, Procurement, SDA and FICO.
- Direct experience in managing staff and budget.
- Project management training practical application experience is preferred.
- Exposure to data quality, records management, security and privacy concepts, best practices, and tools/technologies
- EY Knowledge a plus but not a requirement Experience in change management, configuration management, or incident management would be a plus.
Certification Requirements:
- Having certification of SAP products a plus
- EY experience or other Big 4 is desirable
