POSITION OVERVIEW

The Solutions Architect is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance on end-to-end data ecosystem and modern data platform architecture patterns. Provides optimal architecture recommendations for creating data foundational services that enable several key internal and external customer applications. The Solution Architect will work as EA's lead for cross domain teams such as business divisions, product engineering, cloud platform and security teams.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Enterprise Architecture, the Solutions Architect will be part of the enterprise architecture group and be a key contributor in defining enterprise architecture standards, supporting the data program roadmap, technology modernization and optimization strategies. Also, the Solutions Architect is expected to have a results-oriented mindset, foster an environment of continuous improvement, and have a proven record as a technology leader.

The following are requirements we are looking for in a Solutions Architect--

  • Prior architecture experience in implementing cloud data platform solutions and hybrid cloud migrations/integrations using AWS cloud native technologies, Data Lakehouse, Data mesh, Data fabric, Data migration, Data security, Data analytics and CI/CD data pipelines.
  • Prior experience on data processing frameworks like Apache spark, Kafka and Flink.
  • Ability to think beyond convention with exceptional insights to meet future requirements
  • Exceptional analytical and organization skills with a detail-oriented attitude
  • Superior collaboration skills, able to effectively engage across business, product engineering, and cloud engineering teams

Duties and Deliverables

  • Experience with developing long term data strategies and providing leadership to organization's data strategy that aligns with business objectives to achieve target business outcomes.
  • Responsible for a feasibility study or to prepare a solution vision or solution patterns for any new services/technologies that supports technology modernization activity and data program.
  • Experience in implementing GDPR and CCPA data compliance privacy controls and measures.
  • Experience in translating business needs into technical requirements and obtain stakeholder signoff and support change management.
  • Create, maintain and optimize cloud architectures, ensuring scalability, availability and cost effectiveness.
  • Proactively identifies areas of deficiency or opportunities for improvement and conduct proof-of-concepts to evaluate new analytics technologies and data management tools.
  • Works closely with data owners, data stewards, scrum teams, security and infrastructure teams on a technical review of the solution and consults with enterprise architecture review board to ensure adherence to the enterprise architecture and security standards
  • Collaborates well with cross functional teams to effectively communicate and roll out the enterprise data architecture standards.
  • Supports overall technical vision for data analytics and governance domains that comprise an architectural solution and modernization strategy.
  • Demonstrates ability to work totally independently with virtually no supervision.
  • Demonstrates exceptional ability to define the problem, research and propose a pragmatic and cost-effective solution.
  • Demonstrates successful track record as the lead cloud architect for large and complicated cloud modernization projects.
  • Frequently serves in a leadership capacity to share advanced tips and techniques to foster data driven culture and/or newly acquired technical/business knowledge with peers and mentor junior staff on emerging technologies and architecture patterns.
  • Exercises positive influence in change and improvement through excellent technical leadership skills.
  • Stays abreast of current technology trends and takes on outside in approach to work.
  • Helps define and participates in Data Governance processes.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to create data strategies and roadmaps to enhance business processes and achieve business goals.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK and DCAM.
  • Expert in designing and building large scale enterprise data analytics, data management and security solutions with high availability.
  • Strong ability in Web application development (JAVA, Python, Angular, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge and capability in some of the following IT architectures: End to End AWS data analytics architecture, Data catalog, Synthetic data and Data pipelines.
  • Expertise in data management tools like NoSQL, Data Lake Formation, AWS DMS, RedShift, Lambda, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, QuickSight, Qlik, etc.
  • Expertise in MLOPS in terms of establishing life cycle management for managing ML models and enhancements.
  • Expertise in leveraging AI technologies such as ML/NLP and GPT-4 to perform predictive analytics.
  • Expertise in automating data infrastructure configurations using infrastructure as code (IaC) such as AWS cloud formation templates and AWS glue pipelines.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams

Experience

  • 15 or more years of hands-on experience in Information Technology with expertise in defining data strategy, designing data platform architecture for public cloud hosting platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • 7+ years of experience in implementing solutions using out of the box AWS data analytics cloud services such as Data Lake Formation, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Spark, Kinesis, AWS Glue, QuickSight, Qlik, S3, Lambda, CI/CD, and Artificial intelligence technologies (ML/NLP/ GPT-4)
  • 10+ years hands on experience with defining end to end enterprise data architecture patterns with proof of concepts.
  • Experience in implementing GDPR and CCPA data compliance privacy controls and measures.
  • Track record of providing solutions for cross reginal data application deployments to achieve high availability and zero downtime.
  • 5+ years hands on experience in multiple programing languages and application architecture patterns such as micro services and serverless architectures.
  • Nice to have expertise in creating API's using integration platforms such as Boomi.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification is a must
