Mainframe Data Engineer

TIAA is seeking a Mainframe Data Engineer who would deliver business solutions and projects to the data store team. This role will perform data scrambling of Adabas and VSAM within the mainframe environment. This role will document policies, standards, and procedures to ensure a consistent set of framework processes, in addition, will work under limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform mainframe Database Administration, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Apply environment standards such as object naming, security, backup, recovery, and database administration.
  • Resolve database performance, capacity, and other database related issues.
  • Manage database backup, recovery and standby.
  • Prepare, maintain, and execute disaster recovery plans.
  • Perform standard administration of mainframe files like copying and transferring.
  • Oversight of ITIL Change/Incident management.
  • May require on-call scheduling to support disaster recovery and implementations.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Work Experience

  • 3+ Years Required; 5+ Years Preferred

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience supporting mainframe data platform on z/OS mainframe operating system. Basic knowledge of relational databases.
  • Familiar with ITIL Change/Incident management best practices.

Preferred:

  • Test Data Management support for masking and scrambling of Adabas, VSAM and DB2
  • Prior experience supporting applications in a production environment.
  • Familiar with an understanding of writing scripts to automate and schedule the jobs (Reorg, Runstats, Modify, Image copy, Restore, Load/ Unload, Repair etc.).
  • Knowledge of RACF security tool and DB2
  • Familiarity with MS Office 365 Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced work environment.

Base Pay Range: $94,500/yr. - $163,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
