We are looking for a Data Architect for our functional squads who loves learning new things and facing new challenges but we also value it if you have some deep experience in specific topics such as design systems, scalability, integrations, automations, etc.

At Nextail, you will be part of a cross-functional and autonomous team where you will lead the evolution of the data platform. We love people with a strong Product and Agile mindset who value good technical practices. People who are eager to learn new things and face new challenges of usability and scalability. People who enjoy staying close to Production, doing continuous deployment with special care on quality.

We are a remote company, but you can also work in the Madrid offices. At the moment, we are only seeking candidates in Europe (UTC+02:00 or similar).

Responsibilities:

  • Join the team responsible for evolving and maintaining the data platform of the company.

  • Collaborate on establishing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and automate workflows.

  • Design data models, data flows, and data integration strategies to ensure data quality, security and accessibility.

  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Collaborate with data engineers to implement data management solutions.

  • Optimize system performance and tackle complex scalability issues.

  • Building market-first solutions for retailers. Our teams work to solve the problems faced by retailers by helping them make decisions. Whether by better data analytics or by automating decision processes.

  • Reach better solutions through multidisciplinary teams. Product Managers, Developers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers, and Business Experts work together to solve end-to-end problems.

We offer:

  • High flexibility: We’re strong believers that what matters most are results. Each Nextailer is empowered, through trust and ownership, to organize their time as they see fit without jeopardizing the time or work of their colleagues.

  • Remote-first philosophy: Nextail started as a remote company and continues to offer a nice mix of remote and/or office-based environments around the world.

  • Diversity on all levels: United as a single team, we celebrate diversity at every dimension*. Professionally speaking, are you ready to work alongside tech geniuses, data science magicians, and fashionistas? You’ll have teammates with extensive experience in a wide variety of professional fields, including technology, retail, consulting, and entrepreneurship.

  • The laptop of your choice: Please work with the tools that are most comfortable for you!

  • Flexible compensation plan: We offer a fixed + variable salary.

Requirements

Requirements:

First, we are looking for a good workmate to join the team. We value working in a safe and constructive environment where everybody can thrive over any specific technical skill.

In our team, you will also find people focused on generating an impact in the company, rather than just taking on new tasks to develop. We expect that the person who joins us is as excited about this bias towards impact and action as we are. The requirements and valued skills for this job are:

  • Over 3 years of experience in data architecture, data warehousing and data modeling methodologies and techniques

  • Over 5 years of experience in relevant IT technology.

  • Proficiency in data modeling, database design and data integration tools.

  • Proven experience in architecting enterprise-wide data platforms and data management solutions for large and complex environments

  • Proficiency in SQL, query optimization and relational databases

  • Experience in working with databases such as Snowflake.

  • Preferred knowledge of technologies like Dagster, DBT, or similar data orchestration and transformation tools. Familiarity with these technologies or equivalent alternatives will be highly valued.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Ability to work in an agile environment and adapt quickly to changes.

  • Knowledge and interest in design patterns, SOLID, Hexagonal Architecture; and everything related to software and data architecture and design.

  • Knowledge and experience applying good development practices like TDD, CI/CD, etc.

  • Experience working in fast-paced product-oriented startups.

  • Being a team player with solid skills in collaboration and initiative.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Experience with retail data and data models is preferred.

  • Experience in programming languages such as Python, Java

  • Concern for efficiency, costs, and scalability of implemented solutions.
