Job Description

This individual has expert technical and analytical skills in enterprise systems architecture and software, will be responsible for working with senior business and technical staff across all units in the company to formulate, maintain and communicate a cohesive systems architecture strategy. The candidate should have previous cloud architecture experience, a demonstrated track record of cloud native application development and production cloud infrastructure implementations. Current knowledge of the ongoing developments in cloud architecture and cloud management areas is also of importance for the successful candidate. Role includes the ability to provide architectural guidance for cloud native application design, infrastructure design, capacity planning, functionality testing, and load testing of cloud native applications and environments, as well as writing and enhancing cloud automation and provisioning scripts. The candidate should possess expert knowledge of AWS and/or DataBricks cloud platforms with experienced level of detail regarding application architecture and deployment in the public cloud. Minimal domestic travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Research and architect cloud native applications
  • Configure and fine tune cloud automation framework
  • Implement Terraform templates and private modules
  • Design and implement complex CI/CD pipelines across multiple user bases
  • Drive technical innovation and efficiency in cloud infrastructure operations via automation scripting and working with API's
  • Develops and maintains the comprehensive systems architectures, frameworks, and application interfaces
  • Reviews and approves technical designs for conformance to standards and architectural requirements
  • Provides consultation and assists project teams in formulating solutions
  • Identifies and understands the key drivers that impact the business
  • Performs business and technical requirements analysis and review
  • Proactively learns about and evaluates emerging technologies (reviewing technical journals, team sharing, mentors, vendors, peer groups, special training, etc.)
  • Develops, monitors, and enforces technical standards
  • Establish technical specifications that facilitate easy, accurate coding or scripting/configuration
  • Executes risk assessment utilizing established methodologies
  • Develops appropriate metrics to measure total system performance
  • Applies an understanding of the key vulnerabilities related to data transfer between internal/external systems to maximize data security and integrity

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding and application of Web Services, SOAs, Database Performance and Networking
  • Expert at AWS and/or DataBricks cloud platforms
  • Expert at Terraform IaC
  • Substantial experience in building cloud native applications
  • Substantial experience in building CI/CD pipelines with industry standard automation tools
  • Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Experience with Container creation and management of fleets in public cloud
  • Solid design and build experience of reference implementations of components and interfaces with new technologies
  • Solid experience in designing for critical areas of security, performance, capacity, and maintainability
  • Excellent design experience, including use of industry design patterns and best practices
  • Excellent understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of server/application deployment techniques, methodologies, and tools

Experience Required

  • Experience with development and deployment of applications in public cloud
  • Experience with cloud automation using IaC (Terraform, etc.)
  • AWS/Azure Certification strongly preferred
  • Experience deploying and operating Linux/Unix variants
  • Performance Tuning, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of systems Issues
  • Strong shell scripting
  • System & supporting hardware and software technologies, architectural principles, design standards and options
  • Deep Technical knowledge of infrastructure services systems management and monitoring tools
  • Understanding of complete data analytics stack and workflow, from ETL to data platform design to BI and analytics tools
  • Extensive experience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, DataBricks, etc.)
  • Software development experience with Python, Java , Spark and other Scripting languages
  • Must have excellent architecture, design, operations support & troubleshooting skills (focus on systems integration and on the construction of messaging & middleware tools and frameworks to assist with systems, applications, and data integration)

Experience/Education

An undergraduate degree in Computer Science (or a similar field) or equivalent experience.

Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00
