Senior Python Engineer, Enterprise AI

TEAMEnterprise AI provides a seamless end-to-end machine learning tooling experience, catering to and expediting the development of machine learning projects, such as autonomous driving, smart city, and others.
The AI Solutions team, part of Enterprise AI, is a dedicated team of machine learning experts creating scalable solutions for Toyota and related companies. We develop human-based annotation solutions, generalized auto-labeling service and models, and deep-learning code reviewers, along with many other AI solutions.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FORAs a backend engineer, you will help develop the labeling suites while working with ML engineers distributed across different regions. Expect large datasets, shipping them globally. We aim to change data acquisition and delivery of human/machine-labeled data to expedite global development of machine learning projects.
You will have both technical and communicational skills. As a part of the team, you are a believer in healthy, constructive, and optimistic feedback, as we encourage each other to improve our development practices; refactoring, rewriting legacy code, profiling, code style, and code reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the team lead and other software engineers to develop the backend of the labeling suites to meet the functional and non-functional requirements of the product
• Develop features from start to finish starting with design and deployment
• Support multiple machine learning training data formats and converting them on the fly
• Support multiple data sinks such as machine learning data visualization solutions with datasets owned by AI Solutions
• Collaborate with frontend developers and establish API contracts
• You'll report to the manager in charge of the annotation solutions engineering team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 5 years of experience with Python development, including at least 2 years of asynchronous Python development, and knowledge of ML basics
• Experience with large datasets; databases with large rows or documents, understanding of concurrency, distributed computing, and blob storage
• Understanding of event-driven architectures based on multiple message queues (channels)
• Understanding of major RDBMS and NoSQL DBs, including Postgres and MongoDB
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Come to the office 3 days per week following our hybrid work style

NICE TO HAVES:

• Open-source contributions and ability to analyze OSS projects
• Familiarity with spatial/geometry information or Vector DBs
• Experience with PyTorch data loader and 2D/3D-based machine learning training data format
• Knowledge of machine learning, especially deep learning
• Knowledge of image and point cloud processing
• Fluency in one or more programming languages used in the ML or massively parallel areas
