Are you a skilled Data Analyst eager for a fresh challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a Customer Demand & Marketing Insight Specialist to become a key part of our dynamic Business Growth team. Reporting directly to the Head of Customer Service Strategy, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business.

In this position, you’ll be at the forefront of analysing customer, industry performance and econometric data, transforming insights into actionable strategies. Your experience will guide our understanding of revenue drivers and customer satisfaction, ensuring strength and success of our business decisions. What you will be doing: 

  • You will take charge of collecting, cleansing, and maintaining all customer and commercial data, ensuring the integrity of the information that drives our business strategies, whilst conducting quality assurance checks to keep our insights accurate and reliable.

  • The Customer Demand & Marketing Insight Specialist will also use advanced data analysis tools and techniques to unearth trends and patterns in national and international markets, helping us forecast and adapt to changing business landscapes.

  • You will be responsible for crafting clear, compelling reports and presentations that transform data into actionable insights, sharing your findings with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Contributing to the development and submission of business cases, pre-qualifications, regulatory submissions and rail bids will be another key part of this role, shaping the future of our business.

  • The Customer Demand & Marketing Insight Specialist will work closely with the wider Arriva Group’s data and insights community, actively participating in the Arriva UK Trains Customer Insight Working Group to share knowledge and drive innovation.

  • You will also be responsible for identifying the need for bespoke customer or commercial data, managing the procurement of specialised research to enrich our understanding and strengthen decision-making.

What you will need:

  • This individual will need to have a passion for big data analysis and data science techniques, with a continuous improvement and learning mindset, someone who keeps up to date with the latest trends, tools and methodologies in data analysis.

  • You will need to have strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to varying audiences, with experience in managing stakeholder relationships and presenting your insights.

  • Any experience or interest in transportation, economics, planning or the UK railways would be advantageous.

  • You will need to have had experience using data analysis tools and programming languages including SQL and Python, with proficiency in statistical analysis and Business Intelligence solutions such as Tableau and GIS software such as QGIS or Geo-pandas. Any experience using segmentation tools is highly desirable.

  • The Customer Demand & Marketing Insight Specialist will also need to have a strong understanding of applying customer analytics concepts, with experience of working in analytics or business intelligence within a commerce, retail or transport setting ideally.

  • This individual will need to be a highly numerate graduate with a qualification in a relevant subject including: Economics, Operational Research, Transport Planning, Geography, Statistics/Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent experience.
