Acceleration AI - Lead Engineer, Vice President

About this role

Aladdin Data is responsible for enterprise data and analytics for BlackRock and its Aladdin clients. We also develop and operate the platforms that produce, distribute, and govern enterprise data and analytics. Our goal is a largely automated, cloud-native platform that radically transforms our data and analytics supply chain, making it faster, easier, and cheaper to discover, access, and leverage data and analytics for asset management.

The Aladdin Data AI Acceleration team (ADAX) is responsible for building AI solutions for Aladdin Data. We are transforming workflows by introducing AI for decision support, automation, and document data extraction. We are building tools that augment the Aladdin platform and enable new revenue opportunities. This role is for a senior engineer who can lead a software development team and ensure steady progress across multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

• Drive and oversee all parts of the software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, testing, documentation and maintenance

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of AI engineers and software developers.

• Work with product and program managers to plan work and manage expectations

• Manage dependencies, and communicate progress to stakeholders

• Design end-to-end systems which include servers, front-ends, databases, data pipelines, APIs, model management

• Work with architects and other developers to deliver solutions with strategic alignment

• Support rapid-prototyping and quick iteration based on feedback

Skills:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ in a management/leadership capacity

• Track record of delivering complex software projects

• Proficiency in Java/Go, Python, SQL, Unix

• Proficiency in Kubernetes and microservices

• Knowledge of modern API design, databases and object storage, distributed computing and cloud infrastructure

• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data engineering best practices

• Knowledge of MLOps and best practices for deploying AI systems preferable

• Degree in computer science or equivalent preferable

• Familiarity with generative AI systems desirable
