Position Summary:

  • Contribute to statistical genetics efforts to leverage population genetics in the setting of our novel somatic genomics platform.   Gain and integrate insights into complex disease biology across multiple different therapeutic areas to support target identification and drug development.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse large-scale genomic data including UKBB, Genomics England, as well as use GWAS catalog and OpenTargets to derive population genetics insights into diseases and traits of interest
  • Apply statistical methodology to analyse high-dimensional genomic data (GWAS, WES, WGS, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.) across multiple disease areas
  • Work with interdisciplinary colleagues to integrate germline genetics datasets with somatic genetics datasets and other modalities
  • Use statistical approaches to elucidate causal mechanisms, pathway information and other functional data to prioritize effector genes and causal mechanisms
  • Participate in the design and implementation of cutting-edge genetic studies and analysis strategies, and identify potential problems and propose remedies or refinements
  • Actively participating in target assessment and triaging activities within the company

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Quantitative genomics, Genetics, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related fields
  • Strong background in medical genomics and experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis
  • Proven experience in applied statistical genetics, particularly in target identification or prioritisation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement novel computational approaches
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such a R or Python
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely

Preferred Attributes:

  • Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable for this role
  • Experience with target assessment and triaging
