What will your typical day look like?

As a data science and business insights specialist, you will leverage your understanding of data analytics and HR principles/practices to discover trends, formulate insights and provide evidence-based recommendations using various people data sources, as well as internal and external market data. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other CPO team members, other Enabling business areas (e.g., ITS, Finance, etc.) and our business partners on a regular basis. 

You will play an important part in the execution of key priorities for People Analytics, including:
 

  • Predicting voluntary attrition of employees for workforce planning (Retention Analytics): ongoing prediction, trend monitoring, maintenance of automated workflow etc.
  • Supporting DEIA analysis and modelling to help leaders make meaningful decisions across the employee lifecycle: ongoing analysis, interpretation of results, trend monitoring and enhancement of process, etc.
  • Capturing employee sentiment and feedback through firm-wide surveys (Voice of the People): support with analytics and insight generation etc.
  • Other planned projects: estimating cost of attrition, modelling office usage, etc.
  • and much more including ad-hoc projects and requests from senior leadership and internal partners

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, capture, and translate complex business questions into a structured analytical plan, as well as work collaboratively with teams and leaders to identify appropriate models and solutions 
  • Support the project lifecycle, from identification of problem statements through to development of key analytics projects
  • Work on a diverse team of data and analytics professionals to collaborate in the creation of solutions and insights that enhance the employee experience and provide insights for people and leaders to make decisions 
  • Work with large amounts of data (unstructured to structured) on a granular level to:
    • perform ETL, statistical tests, advanced data analysis, machine learning modelling
    • identify trends, anomalies and peculiarities in data and their implications
    • communicate insights to help solution business problems
  • Support the creation of data visualizations and analysis, combining multiple datasets, to deliver key insights through various reporting methods
  • Support the development of storyboard, decks and delivery materials
  • Support colleagues on other priorities where capacity permits
  • Explore unfamiliar data and brainstorm new ideas to uncover hidden relationships using the right methods and tools
  • Identify potential risks and issues, escalate them in a timely manner and offer suggested solutions where appropriate

We will do this by empowering and inspiring our workforce through a people-first approach, seamlessly integrating technology and digital solutions, leveraging data-driven insights, and implementing transformative Talent programs.

The role itself is part of the People Analytics function focused on enabling better decisions through meaningful data-driven insights.

Here are some of the qualities that would help you excel in this role:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in data science or data analytics 
  • Good understanding of and experience with analytical techniques, statistical modelling, data mining, machine learning using R, Python or similar tools
  • Proficient Excel skills (lookups, power pivots, visualizations, VBA macros, etc.) 
  • Ability to work with data with significant ambiguity, develop creative approaches to analytical problems, and interpret data and results from a business perspective
  • Eagerness to work in an agile and collaborative environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill technical concepts and complex data into easily digestible stories using MS Office tools such as PowerPoint
  • Excited by handling multiple priorities with time sensitive deadlines

Assets:

  • Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field
  • Experience with data manipulation and processing tools such as Alteryx and Dataiku
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Experience with database management, data manipulation and integration using Power Query, SQL, Oracle or similar tools
  • Experience with natural language processing and optimization
  • General understanding of and experience with generative AI technology
  • Project management experience
  • Professional services, consulting, or advisory experience
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technology/software/systems

Due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients, English is required for this position.

The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $96,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
