We are a fully remote IT services provider that delivers innovative Enterprise IT and Health Services solutions across the federal sector. IGS is currently recruiting for a remote Sr. Data Modeler to support our work with the Department of Veterans Affairs.


Assignment of Work and Travel:

This is a remote access assignment. Candidate will work remotely daily and remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.


Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • Provide consultation and expertise on data science, and data analytics related projects
  • Support enhancing collaborative data science projects
  • Support the government in establishing and strengthening data governance
  • Manage and analyze large and/or complex datasets
  • Provide support and expertise in data visualization projects/ activities
  • Support enabling the holistic use of comprehensive data sources for analytical workflows.
  • Provide recommendations on data integration opportunities
  • Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
  • Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
  • Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance

Requirements

  • BS (Bachelor of Science) degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in defining and building effective and efficient databases utilizing a variety of different software products.
  • Knowledge of various database products and structures and can convey information to technicians for data input.
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase
  • Statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Scripting and programming skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • Expertise in latest data science, data management, and data analytics techniques, technologies, and tools such as: Hadoop, distributed data analytics platforms, geospatial data analytics, machine learning, etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office specifically, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Active VA Public Trust security clearance
  • Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment.

Compensation: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
