Principal Biotech Data Engineer
Principal Biotech Data Engineer for Berkeley, CA to develop data & analytics solutions to meet business requirements and drive analytics workflows, including machine learning, modeling and simulation; architect, develop & optimize data pipelines, workflows, and storage solutions; ensure quality, availability & integrity of code; create data-driven tools, templates, packages, visualizations & dashboards to improve model development and insights; lead cross-functional teams in identifying & planning data engineering solutions to optimize data availability and insights; identify potential new technologies & practices for company use. Requires Master’s in C.S., Data Science, Computer Engineering or closely-related quantitative field & 3 yrs experience modeling and developing data architecture for complex datasets in the healthcare and/or technology industries; using object-oriented and/or functional programming languages, including Java, Python, Scala, SQL and/or C++; using data engineering tools, including Apache Airflow, Spark, Kafka, RedShift, SageMaker and/or Kubernetes, to build & orchestrate data pipelines and infrastructures; designing data pipelines & cloud infrastructures in the AWS ecosystem using Lambda, Glue, S3, EC2 and/or Datastream; integrating data sources into systems landscape & providing end-user solutions; applying DevOps and/or ML Ops methodologies; developing data warehouses, data lakes and/or semantic frameworks; and participating in and/or leading cross-functional project teams. Will also accept a Bachelor’s in said fields & 5 years progressive, post-Bachelor’s stated experience. Up to 5% U.S. and/or int’l travel req’d. Telecommuting permitted from home office location within reasonable commuting distance of Berkeley, CA up to 3 days per week. Salary Range: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $188,885.00 to $194,285.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. The offered salary may vary within this range based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
