Job Overview

  • We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence & Data Engineering Lead to architect, build, and maintain the core data infrastructure that supports Avaya’s marketing analytics.
  • In this role, you will develop a scalable platform for handling complex data sets, lead advanced analytics projects, and ensure seamless access to business intelligence across marketing functions.
  • The ideal candidate is an expert in SQL, Python, and database management, with strong capabilities in building and optimizing ETL pipelines. Additionally, you will have a moderate understanding of AI tools and APIs to enhance and automate data processes.
  • This role requires a hands-on, startup mentality—someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, can work through roadblocks, and drive data projects to completion with limited resources.
  • A critical aspect of this role is the ability to work directly with business stakeholders, understand their needs, and then independently translate those insights into technical requirements and deliverables without requiring excessive oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform & Infrastructure Development:

Build and manage a centralized data platform to serve as the foundation for all marketing analytics, integrating data from CRM systems, web analytics, marketing automation tools, and other sources.
Lead the design and deployment of ETL pipelines to transform raw data into actionable insights while ensuring high data quality and availability.
Develop scalable and optimized data pipelines to support both real-time and batch analytics requirements, ensuring marketing has the tools needed to track campaign performance and key metrics.

Advanced SQL & Python Expertise:

Write and optimize complex SQL queries to handle large datasets and develop insightful analytics, including window functions, recursive queries, and advanced joins.
Use Python for data wrangling, automation, and building custom tools for marketing analysis, leveraging libraries such as pandas, NumPy, and SQLAlchemy.
Integrate with external APIs to enrich marketing data and automate workflows, supporting end-to-end analytics and reporting processes.

Startup Mentality & Roadblock Management:

Approach problems with a startup mindset, identifying creative solutions when faced with challenges such as limited data, inadequate tools, or lack of resources.
Work closely with IT to drive implementation and secure necessary systems, permissions, or access, while ensuring that roadblocks do not stop the successful delivery of projects.
Build workarounds, design new tools, and implement iterative solutions that deliver immediate value, while planning for long-term, scalable data architecture improvements.

Business Intelligence & Analytics:

Oversee the creation of custom dashboards to track marketing KPIs, pipeline performance, and sales funnel metrics using BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Sigma.
Lead advanced analytics projects that delve into database optimization, query performance tuning, and the development of advanced algorithms for data integration and processing.
Provide insights through advanced AI-based analytics to identify trends, detect anomalies, and enable predictive recommendations.

Translating Business Needs into Technical Solutions:

Collaborate directly with marketing and business stakeholders to gather insights, define data needs, and understand key business questions.
Independently convert these business needs into technical specifications and actionable data requirements, driving the design and development of analytics solutions without extensive supervision.
Create a bridge between non-technical teams and technical solutions, ensuring that the analytics infrastructure aligns with business objectives.

Moderate Knowledge of AI Tools & APIs:

Incorporate AI tools (e.g., machine learning models, natural language processing) to drive advanced analytics projects, such as customer segmentation or predictive campaign performance.
Develop and integrate with APIs to automate data ingestion, connect marketing platforms, and enable real-time data streaming across the marketing ecosystem.

Skills

  • Advanced SQL skills, including writing and optimizing complex queries, joins, window functions, and recursive queries.
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, building data pipelines, and automating workflows, using libraries like pandas, NumPy, and SQLAlchemy.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Redshift) and data warehouse management.
  • Moderate understanding of AI tools and their application in marketing analytics, such as machine learning models for predictive insights and natural language processing for customer sentiment analysis.
