Position Overview:

Machine learning has been around for decades but has become a household name in the last several years. Brunswick has been investigating and leveraging machine learning for years, and we are excited for the vast untapped opportunities in the recreational marine space for this technology. It has the potential to transform everything we do as a company and as an industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Work within the Brunswick innovation lab to develop integrated machine learning concepts to provide transformative user experiences that integrate with the broader technology stack across the corporation 

  • Provide leading expertise across Brunswick on the development of machine learning solutions 

  • Drives technical solutions from innovation to product development pipeline 

  • Work with engineering teams across the corporation to identify opportunities for intellectual property, applications, and concepts 

  • Keep up to date on the latest in AI technology and drive early adoption in the corporation 

  • Mentor and coach tomorrow’s talent through our BI DesignLab

  

Key responsibilities 

  • Developing models for customer facing marine specific applications 

  • Work with data from sensors like cameras, stereovision, sonar, radar and more 

  • Help to identify and drive collection of appropriate training data for classification applications 

  • Apply classical, generative, and physics informed AI to develop proofs of concept 

  • Excellent teaming skills and willingness to work closely with internal and external stakeholders 

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way. Required Qualifications:

 Required Experience/Skills  

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other engineering discipline with focus on Machine Learning 

  • Strong working knowledge of a variety of A.I. and M.L. methods 

 

Preferred Experience/Skills: 

  • M.S. or Ph.D. with focus on Machine Learning 

  • Experience developing and commercializing machine learning solutions 

Working Conditions:

This position will be based out of the Brunswick BI (Boating Intelligence) DesignLab in Research Park on the UIUC (University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign) campus and will require moderate domestic travel.
