Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Independently perform technical and/or specialized work in BI application administration and/or BI solution development. Act as a consultant to business partners on BI application sizing and/or web-based information solutions, such as, reporting, OLAP, Dashboards/scorecards, data stores and data access and analysis methods. Provide BI expertise to large and/or complex information requests or projects.

Perform BI application administration, which includes proactively monitoring application performance, applying service patches, fixes, system upgrades, sizing and capacity planning, and resolving application performance problems. Also involves BI user administration in compliance with the BI licensing requirements.

Translate business needs for projects and broad scale initiatives into information solutions that improve business decisions.

Promote and adhere to Data Management processes and procedures and provide input to the creation of data definitions, business rules and data access methods.

Proactively identify and analyze data trends and potential business opportunities. Develop information solutions that enable business partners to capitalize on identified trends.

Provide leadership in design, development, implementation and troubleshooting of automated reporting and analysis applications that support broad scale initiatives, including data modeling and interfacing with back end databases and data marts.

Proactively evaluate coding standards and develop new standards as needed, to improve the consistency, efficiency and accuracy of BI reporting and analysis.

Consult with IT management and architects on the design of databases, data marts and the technical architecture of the data delivery environment used to broad scale initiatives.

Remain abreast of current and future Business Intelligence technology and BI analysis methods. Analyze and recommend new technology.

Evaluate the effectiveness of automated scripts for file back-up and maintenance; implement improvements as needed.

Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement of cross line of business, line of business, and division processes.

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Degree in Business Management, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

Minimum 6 years of business systems/procedures analysis experience

Six years of experience in BI application administration and/or data modeling and 4GL languages (WebFocus, Mainframe Focus, SAS, Crystal, COGNOS, or other language), object-oriented analysis and design (SQL/ODBC) and web development tools (ASP, .Net, HTML, Java Script, VBScript, Sitefinity)

Working knowledge of ETL processes and working experience in developing information solutions in a data warehouse environment

Ability to act as a mentor and/or technical expert for the team and business partners

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Proven ability to navigate complex situations through organizational landscape and with multiple stakeholders

Ability to drive results through informal authority, serve as a consultant to key business partners, and represent users and customers in every thought and interaction

Proven ability to successfully manage risks/issues at a program level

Ability to elicit cooperation from Senior Management and other departments

Demonstrates ability to be a decision-maker showing balanced consideration of business issues

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills

Strong business aptitude and problem-solving skills

Strategic skills to support envisioning work, program planning and forecasting

Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Salary Ranges: $90,000.00 - $154,000.00
