Junior Bioinformatician – Metabolomics & Lipidomics Analysis in Lysosomal Storage Disorders

Location: Rozzano

Job Type: Full-time, Junior Position

About the Role:

We are looking for a Junior Bioinformatician with a strong interest in metabolomics and lipidomics to join our research team focused on lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) models. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career bioinformatician to develop expertise in data analysis and interpretation of high-throughput mass spectrometry datasets. You will work closely with senior scientists, supporting ongoing projects and learning advanced bioinformatics techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the analysis of metabolomics and lipidomics datasets from mass spectrometry experiments.
  • Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines using R or Python for processing and analyzing omics data.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to support data integration and biological interpretation of results.
  • Contribute to project reports and scientific publications, presenting findings as needed.
  • Ensure the reproducibility of analyses and workflows.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis.
  • Strong interest in metabolomics, lipidomics, or bioinformatics-related research.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
  • Familiarity with Bash scripting and basic machine learning methods.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Singularity) for reproducible research.
  • Understanding of mass spectrometry data and omics technologies such as metaboloomics.
  • Previous experience or interest in lysosomal storage disorders or related genetic diseases.
