Role Responsibilities

Do you have a passion for storytelling? Do you thrive in a collaborative team environment?  Are you looking for a fast-paced job where your work will have an impact the lives of Alberta’s families?  If so, you could be the team member we need!

We are looking for creative individuals that can translate data into narratives that can be understood by non-data experts. If this sounds like you, this is your opportunity to be part of a team that delivers high-quality information that will impact child care programs and services by providing support in managing data analytics, including data collection, data analysis and interpretation, data visualization, data modelling, forecasting, and reporting writing.

The Senior Data Analyst works within the Program Information (data) team to manage and analyze data to support child care initiatives, such as the implementation of the Canada-Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.  In this role, you will provide expert advice on data management, analysis, modelling, and forecasting. You will work closely with staff and senior leadership, across multiple divisions within the ministry, to identify and apply statistical best-practices.  In addition, you will promote the use of monitoring and reporting practices and encourage the sharing of analytical information to encourage evidence-informed decision-making.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for managing childcare modelling and forecasting to support the implementation of the Canada-Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Initiative, developing innovative reporting strategies using statistical best-practices.  Following best practices, your role will be to deliver results on several projects in a timely and effective manner.

To be successful in this role, you must keep up to date on emerging trends within the field of early childhood education and incorporate this knowledge into your data-driven world.  In addition, you must bring knowledge and experience in all aspects of data management and analytics, as well as strong project management skills. You must have the ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently. Your strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to build and maintain relationships will be key as you work with program areas and cross-ministry stakeholders.
