Senior Manager – Data Engineering

What can you expect?

  • This role is critical in enabling data driven decision making, ensuring data quality and governance and building scalable data infrastructure.
  • This role gives the candidate continuous learning opportunities, cross functional collaboration and future growth potential.
  • Candidate should get knowledge of all the projects which the BI Solutions team supports. Should get familiarize with the Data warehouse and its architecture. And in three months become productive in resolving process/business issues.
  • The candidate will work with other Data Engineer, BA and BI developers. Collaborate with MGTI IT team and if required connect with the Business.
  • Initially all the functional, business and Knowledge of tools used will be imparted inhouse. If there is any requirement of learning a new tool that training can be given on need basis.

We will count on you to:

  • System Design and Development: Designing and building robust, scalable data processing systems that can handle large volumes of data. This includes databases, data lakes, and other big data infrastructures.
  • Data Pipeline Architecture: Overseeing + hands on in creation and maintenance of efficient data pipelines, which includes tasks such as data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Data Management: Implement data strategies and develop physical and logical data models.
  • Data Optimization: Develop and implement data optimization techniques to improve system efficiency and reduce data latency, complexity, and redundancy.
  • Data Quality: Ensuring that the data that flows through the pipelines is of high quality and that data quality checks and balances are in place.
  • Problem Solving: Use analytical skills to solve complex problems associated with database development and management.
  • Collaboration: Working with other teams, such as data scientists, business analysts, and Qlik Developers, to identify organizational needs and design effective solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Providing technical leadership and guidance to the team. This may include code reviews, mentoring, and helping team members troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Strategy and Planning: Aligning the data engineering strategy with the wider organizational strategy. This might involve deciding which projects to prioritize, making technology choices, and planning for the team's growth and development.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensuring that all data engineering activities are compliant with relevant laws and regulations, and that data is stored and processed securely.
  • Innovation: Keeping up-to-date with new technologies and methodologies in the field of data engineering, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining data infrastructure, strategies, and systems in an understandable way.

What you need to have: 

  • Hands on experience on SQL
  • Experience on open-source data ingestion tool such as Apache Ni-Fi
  • Any relevant experience on AWS cloud and it’s native component.
