Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence FCAI is a hub of AI expertise in Finland, initiated by Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. It brings together top talents in academia, industry, and the public sector to solve real-life problems using both existing and novel AI. FCAI is one of the Research Council of Finland’s Flagships, recognized for its high-quality research and significant societal impact. It is also part of ELLIS - the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems - a pan-European AI network of excellence, and it hosts the ELLIS Unit Helsinki.

Corporate Relations Manager for Artificial Intelligence Research

Are you passionate about AI research and skilled at building impactful collaborations between academia and industry?

We seek a visionary and pragmatic professional to join our expanding AI community and to play a key role in developing the FCAI ecosystem.

Your role

In this role, you will develop and facilitate innovation and industry collaboration activities for FCAI at Aalto University. Your responsibilities will include planning and coordinating the growing ELLIS company collaborations, and ensuring they align closely with FCAI’s initiatives.

You will manage and develop existing partnerships and establish new research, development, and innovation (RDI) collaborations. This involves engaging with researchers and industry professionals to systematically initiate and foster successful partnerships. Additionally, you will design and organize collaboration methods that benefit both academic and industrial sectors, including international corporations, Finnish companies, SMEs, and startups.

You are goal-oriented, organized, and hands-on, adept at executing tasks from start to finish. With a solid understanding of academic research and business operations, you will excel in planning and organizing meetings and workshops, supporting collaborative efforts, and inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds.

You will be administratively part of Aalto University´s Corporate Relations team, receiving professional support to succeed in your independent role as a corporate relations manager for FCAI and ELLIS activities. Your daily work environment will be within FCAI's management team and its industry and society team, collaborating closely with colleagues from the University of Helsinki and VTT Technical Research Center of Finland, alongside with researchers. FCAI leadership will provide you with strategic and practical guidance.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. degree, ideally with subject matter expertise in artificial intelligence
  • Experience in research, development, and innovation (RDI); and business development within the technology industry, particularly with multinational companies
  • Experience of managing partnerships and accounts with technology companies
  • Experience of preparing research projects e.g. Business Finland or EU
  • Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Finnish (highly preferred)
  • Strong organizational, collaborative, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Openness to diverse work tasks and responsibilities
