Research Scientist - Advanced Analytics & AI @Telenor R&I

As a Research Scientist with us, you'll be at the forefront of developing and shaping Cloud and AI solutions, and the connectivity services and core networks needed in the transition from 5G to 6G. Your contributions will help us push the boundaries of what's possible. We believe AI is one of the fundamental technologies of the 21st century, and our goal is to make Telenor a data-driven AI company. We do this through solving business problems of high impact using AI, and by providing strategic advice to decision makers in Telenor.  

You will work with some of the best minds in the industry on cutting-edge research projects within next generation technologies, AI/ML, and analytics that shape the future of telecommunications. We work across different domains such as networks, marketing, customer care, and IoT, with different types of data such as location data, CRM data, sensor data and text, and we use state of the art models such as deep learning and reinforcement learning. Work description 

• Define and conduct research within the R&I value creation programs ‘’AI for responsible business impact program’’, ‘’Intelligent networks and advanced solutions’’, ‘’Cloud transformation program’’, “Bluesky research program” and work in collaboration with the researchers in Telenor R&I, Telenor employees from the business units, external academics and industry partners/customers 

• Take part in ongoing research activities, and also lead research within important topics 

• Publish research papers and attend conferences to share and learn 

• Identify and pursue research within topics of high importance for Telenor R&I and Telenor’s strategic agenda 

• Contribute to strategic and operative recommendations and implications of the research results and present to relevant stakeholders 

• Continuously monitor emerging technology and societal trends that influence Telenor´s business, our industry and society at large 

• Participate in internal research and innovation projects of R&I and in close collaboration with national and international universities and research communities, and other Telenor partners/ customers 

• Contribute to our collaborative culture 

Experience 

• A Ph.D. or similar research experience, in Computer Science or equivalent, preferably with a specialization in Machine Learning and preferably 3 – 7 years relevant experience after the Ph.D. 

• You should be familiar with the workflow and iterative processes of building effective machine learning systems. Experience with open-source Machine Learning/Deep Learning frameworks (tensorflow, Keras etc) is a plus 

• You should be comfortable with the math's of Machine Learning - you will need to tweak your own machine learning algorithms 

• You should be able to code in languages such as Python/Java/C++ 

• You have a positive attitude, are self-driven and open-minded 

• You have a passion to influence through research 

• You enjoy presenting complex topics to top management, and are willing to invest time to become a better speaker and communicator 

• You have an interest for the Telecom industry 

• Broad understanding of computer systems and computer networks, e.g. at the intersection between IT and telecommunication networking 

• Positive attitude, self-driven and open-minded 

• A team player: you put the team first, and is respectful to different personalities and different points of view
