Spatial Data Engineer

What's the role?

• Solid skills in Geospatial Science theory and application.
• A strong understanding of data science, especially geodata science and the associated statistical skills.
• Ensure the compliance of the database with the digitizing and attributing rules (for core map) and/or other appropriate database/product specifications (for additional content).
• Ensure that the database/product is consistent in terms of quality and content.
• Act as the principal point of contact for the data product and distribution delivery process and act as the liaison between Product Management, Technical Customer Support, Engineering and other internal stakeholders.
• Make significant contributions to process improvement initiatives to increase quality and speed of our service.
• Perform data analysis in support of the new map-making architecture.

Who are you?

• Possess Degree in Geography, Cartography, or related field
• An uncanny ability to tell stories and deliver insights through the use of a wide variety of visualisation tools
• Strong knowledge of one or more geospatial tools such as QGIS, FME and/or ArcGIS (data analysis, spatial data visualisation, …)
• You have SQL, Python and any other programming language skills
• Loads of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge and exploration
• The ability to have fun while working in a team
• Documenting and presenting your work
•  5+ years of work experience managing databases and managing database releases
• Have experience with map production tools and understand spatial data
• You are comfortable being part of virtual teams and can work independently with minimal supervision
• You are fluent in English (both written & spoken)
• You have a good understanding of project management fundamentals and skillset and exposure in managing project stakeholders.
