Job Description

Are you passionate about leading the optimization, development and implementation of new simulation capabilities and CAE infrastructure as Solution Owner?  

Bring your strong technical computer-aided engineering (CAE) expertise, complex troubleshooting skills and great Stakeholder Management capabilities into play and join our CAE department shaping the LEGO® bricks and moulds of the future!

Core Responsibilities
As Senior CAE Specialist, you will take the key role as Solution Owner of our structural solutions. Your key responsibility will be to ensure the facilitation of our current structural solutions and proactively foster new simulation capabilities that add stakeholder value. As a strong technical leader, you will drive and coordinate activities to maintain, operationalize and develop key CAE infrastructure and capabilities in close collaboration with the team and other organizational relevant key partners. Furthermore, you will:

  • Enable the other sub team CAE Operations (OPS) through maintenance and development of simulation tools and support CAE OPS and internal stakeholders with complex troubleshooting
  • Provide expert guidance to other LEGO® engineers based on execution and critical interpretation of CAE simulation results
  • Ensure alignment with internal customers to secure consistency, quality and value of delivered CAE services
  • Contribute to continuous quality assurance, validation and improvement of CAE simulation tools
  • Participate in cross-functional teams that conduct root cause analysis in response to quality challenges
  • Be a technical leader and role model in the CAE department that sets the direction be seeking continuous improvements

And as a Solution Owner you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitate solution maintenance, updates, documentation, and support to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensuring that specified outcomes are aligned with our strategic objectives and stakeholder needs.
  • Planning, prioritization, and execution of activities & tasks (Agile convention: Product Owner)
  • Facilitating transparent decisions made with engagement and commitment from Solution owner group (SOG) and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining an updated, aligned, and prioritized roadmap for solution development, which considers the voices of Customers, Business, and Technology

The CAE department provides simulation support to the engineering development within the LEGO Group. This includes analysis of injection moulding processes as well as analysis of the mechanical robustness and functions of both moulds and bricks. We apply agile ways of working with a strategic focus through OKRs (Objectives & Key Results). It is our daily ambition to support the design of robust and efficient solutions in a cost-efficient manner based on digital prototypes.

You will join the CAE Structural Simulation team working closely together with the other sub team CAE Operations (OPS). Your team is based in Billund and consists of 9 dedicated and highly skilled colleagues with a diverse set of backgrounds in terms of gender, nationality, age groups, etc.

Do you have what it takes?
The ideal candidate comes with 8+ years of experience from a role as CAE Simulation Engineer, Structural Engineer, FEM Engineer, FEA Engineer or similar. You have minimum a master’s degree within Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, but most essentially bring strong experience with structural FEA analysis capabilities including knowledge about non-linear material behavior, geometric contact and large displacements. In addition, you have:

  • Preferably proven experience working with LS-DYNA or similar simulation tools – Otherwise, showing a strong learning mindset, lots of passion and eagerness for personal improvement.
  • Solid programming skills
  • Broad working knowledge of CAE, FEM and FEA
  • Ability to evaluate simulation results from underlying physics
  • Proven results from previous positions as being a strong technical leader, specialist and role model
  • Strong communication and Stakeholder Management capabilities applied on different organizational levels
  • Proficiency in English both verbal and written

Furthermore, it will be an advantage, if you have:

  • Knowledge about injection moulding processes and mechanical behavior of polymers
  • Solid experience with Siemens NX, Altair HyperWorks, Moldex3D
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based simulation approaches
