We are seeking a dedicated Analyst with advanced Python programming skills and expertise in market modelling to join our dynamic team. This role requires developing and analyzing market models, identifying key factors driving market trends, and leveraging data analytics to provide strategic insights. While industry-specific experience, particularly in oil and gas, is helpful, it is not required. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, proficiency in database management, and a passion for using data to solve complex business challenges.

in LSEG Oils Research we offer in-depth insights into the diverse world of oil products, including crude, middle and light distillates, and also biofuels. Your role will involve dissecting global production trends, market demands, and trade dynamics. You will get a significant opportunity to build production frameworks and provide a narrative around supply-demand dynamics with a global perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Modelling and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain advanced market models using Python to analyse market trends, price movements, and key drivers.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of market data, identifying significant factors and trends that impact business decisions.
  • Implement statistical methods and machine learning techniques to enhance forecasting accuracy and model performance.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive documentation detailing market data descriptions, specifications, requirements, content, and procedures for each model.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and accessibility, facilitating efficient knowledge sharing and operational continuity across teams.

Data Management and Database Skills:

  • Manage and manipulate large datasets using Python, SQL or other database technologies.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy through rigorous validation and quality control processes.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources to support analytical needs.

Strategic Insights and Reporting

  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on market analysis and model outputs.
  • Prepare and present reports, visualisations, and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate analytical findings into business strategies.

Technical Skills Development:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Python programming, data analytics, and market modelling techniques.
  • Continuously enhance technical skills and explore innovative approaches to improve analytical processes and models.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or related fields. A Master’s degree or a certification in Petroleum Studies is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Python for data analysis and modelling.
  • Solid understanding of databases, including relational database management systems, and experience working with structured data.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, ML techniques, and their application in market forecasting.
  • Proven Ability to work with large datasets and proficiency in data manipulation and visualisation tools (e.g., Pandas, Matplotlib, Power BI).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Eikon and Workspace (API) is an advantage.
