Job Description

This is a CONTRACT TO HIRE opportunity and must work in a hybrid in-office/remote work model from our Denver office. 

 

Our new Data Engineer will be active in major projects within BLEND360 and working with our data engineering team to develop innovative data driven solutions that integrate distributed sources of data, perform large scale learning and reasoning, and integrate results for some of the top companies in the world.

Job Description

As a Data Engineer you will be an integral part to the data engineering team working with a variety of technologies for some of the top companies in the world. You will develop solutions independently and with team members, help define, break down and prioritize work in partnership with team, and follow the delivery process.

You will also program solid code framework that needs to be built to purpose, yet have enough flexibility to adapt to new business use cases, a tough but rewarding challenge!

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure best practices and standards in data ecosystem are shared across teams.
  • Build and manage data pipelines, design and architect databases.
  • Design, implement, integrate and document performant systems or components for data flows or applications that power analysis at a massive scale.
  • Effective communication across timezones and stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to fast changing requirements in business.  

Qualifications

  • Background in Data analysis, Data Science, or Data Engineering
  • Experience of working on agile implementation with expertise in user stories/acceptance criteria articulation in JIRA
  • Strong written documentation skills
  • Strong verbal and client facing communication skills
  • A critical thinker with a consultative mindset
  • Strong understanding of the data industry as a whole, including tools, best practices, and functionality
  • Experience across 2 or more of the following technologies:
    • PySpark
    • SQL
    • Python
    • DBT
    • Jupyter Notebook
    • Scala
    • Experience with distributed data systems such as Hadoop and related technologies (Spark, Presto, Pig, Hive, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Unix and Unix-like systems, git and review board.
  • Quick learner with good grasp on reporting needs using tools such as Excel/Power BI/ Tableau as needed.
