Senior Data Engineer

ImpactAs a Senior Data Engineer located in Alabama, you will be be developing, maintaining and supporting, data pipelines to move data from the enterprise service bus messaging to our data lake and ultimately data warehouse analytical stores. Test the data pipeline code to ensure quality builds. Collect and monitor the metrics necessary to quantify system performance and forecast future capacity needs.

While no two days are the same, you will develop data pipeline. You will work closely with the Data Warehouse team and other Engineering teams to build services that subscribe to and collect messages from our next-generation systems for entity CRUD and business activities. You will describe and document intended use and finally surface data as actionable information. You will ideate and collaborate on solutions, serving as a thought leader within the Tech organization to build new and improved data tools and services that can scale with the company. Lastly, you will focus on enhancing our development process, driving continuous improvements.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in CS, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience
  • You have 4 years in BI Engineering and/or Data Engineering
  • You have experience in schema design for decision support, particularly dimensional data modeling, building data marts, data lakes etc
  • You have strong skills in SQL (query plan optimization, windowing functions, aggregate design for example)
  • You have expertise in Snowflake, PostgresDB, Redshift or DataBricks
  • You have experience with Python and/or GoLang
  • You have experience with Airflow or similar orchestration framework
  • You have experience working with Kafka, Apache Spark, or other messaging queues, streaming technologies, and batch processing
  • You are confident in communicating with both internal and external data platform customers.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Pay Range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City: 

$110,421-$220,842

All other locations:

$92,036-$184,071

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
