ImpactAs a Senior Data Scientist on the Risk Assessment Data Science team, you will leverage your expertise in advanced data analytics, experimentation, and statistical modeling to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across our business operations.
Working with rich, complex datasets collected from our multi-sided marketplace, you will perform a wide variety of analytical tasks, including crafting complex database queries, conducting ad-hoc research, designing and implementing experiments, and developing advanced statistical models. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — such as Fraud Detection, Operations, Engineering, and Product Development — to enhance decision-making processes, reduce fraud, and protect our customers, shoppers, and assets. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, intellectually curious, and a clear communicator.
Every day you will analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends and correlation that indicate potential risks. You will conduct risk assessment by designing, building and implementing experimentation and causal inference studies to identify and assess various types of risk and present insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders through compelling visualizations and reports.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful
  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

  • 4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics.

  • 4+ years experimentation, statistical modeling, hypothesis testing and causal inferences.

  • Proficiency in SQL and a statistical programming language and Python

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Pay Range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City: 

$121,487-$242,974

All other locations:

$101,239-$202,478

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
