Job Description

African Infrastructure Investment Managers (“AIIM”) is one of the pre-eminent private equity infrastructure managers in Africa, having raised greater than USD3.9bn in capital over the last two decades. With 5 offices on the continent, AIIM has invested in 20 African countries and more than 70 portfolio companies in the Power, Energy, Digital infrastructure and Transportation sectors. AIIM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI), one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa, with assets under management of USD7.4 billion. OMAI manages private equity and impact funds as well as infrastructure funds through AIIM. The Reporting & Data Specialist is part of the Strategic Initiatives team, which is responsible for growing the assets under management of the business through development of new mandates, capital raising and investor relations. This includes the ongoing support of investor requirements and reporting to investors. The role reports to the Head of Strategic Initiatives.

The Reporting & Data specialist is responsible for the management and distribution of all investor reporting within the pan-African mandates for AIIM and managing investor queries in relation to these. This portfolio covers 6 infrastructure funds.

The role requires a high attention to detail to ensure the generation of high-quality reporting within tight delivery deadlines as well as staying abreast of reporting enhancements expected by investors based on market developments.

The specialist will also be responsible for the management of portfolio company performance data, the management of the data systems and the generation of reporting to drive portfolio management decisions and track portfolio KPIs.

Managing and Compiling investor reports (incl. ESG reports) for funds:

Responsible for the compilation and delivery of quarterly reports for AIIM’s pan-African infrastructure funds to investors:

  • Develop and manage reporting deliverables and timetables to meet reporting deadlines for all investor reporting requirements
  • Project manage the inputs from various departments
  • Manage co-ordination with design team (working knowledge of InDesign preferable)
  • Manage the review process and update commentary
  • Distribute reports to all parties

Investor communication function:

Responsible for monitoring and managing investor queries to ensure questions are directed to the right teams within the business and responses provided on a timely basis:

  • Maintain investor relations contacts and distribution lists
  • Manage investor queries through general mailboxes and ensure that all queries are attended to
  • Co-ordinate investor communications with marketing team and responsible for distribution of investor communications
  • Responsible for the content and queries relating to the Investor Portal

Governance function

  • Project manage inputs into the investor meeting packs for AGMs and semi-annual meetings
  • Compile and distribute meeting packs for investor governance meetings

Data management function:

  • General oversight of portfolio data across Pan-African portfolio companies to provide inputs into the portfolio management team
  • Co-ordinate and project manage the collection and input of portfolio company data into central management systems
  • Understanding of the data requirements of the team to develop appropriate reporting templates for monthly / quarterly monitoring & performance tracking
  • Communication with asset management teams on reporting outcomes and monitoring against performance KPIs
  • Provide database support to investment team and ESG team users
  • Develop appropriate reporting for investor relations and marketing requirements

Ad hoc functions:

  • Assist finance with drawdown and distribution notices - distribution to investors and managing queries
  • PowerPoint updates on report backs to investors
  • Assist group compliance with queries on the business
  • Assist Marketing department with requests on fund information

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric, with BCom or other relevant tertiary business focused qualification
  • + 5 years relevant reporting experience, preferably in Private Equity
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite – specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of eFront, InvestmentCafe or similar investor portal systems advantageous
  • Knowledge of Adobe pro, InDesign or similar design software advantageous
