Fixed Income Quantitative Research Internship

The Team


Fidelity’s fixed income division is one of the country’s leading fixed income managers, with over $1.2 trillion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of roughly 200 investment professionals. Our fixed income division makes its headquarters in Merrimack, New Hampshire, though more than 20 of our division members are located in Fidelity’s London office. We combine fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to support investment decisions aimed at maximizing risk-adjusted total return for our clients.

The Role

Fidelity is seeking to hire a Quantitative Analyst Intern to join its Quantitative Research and Investments division. This position will be located in Fidelity’s office in Merrimack, New Hampshire. The analyst intern will work with traders and portfolio managers on the money market team to develop quantitative techniques, models, and tools to support and strengthen the investment process.

These attributes are indispensable:

  • Familiarity with fixed income analytics

  • Pursuing a technical degree (graduate or PhD) in fields such as mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, economics, or finance

  • Intermediate skill in one programming language

  • Deep intellectual curiosity and creative approach to problem solving

  • Strong analytic and quantitative skills

  • Rigorous and structured thought process

  • Collaborates effectively with team members

  • Desire to pursue a career in investment management

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively

These attributes are strongly preferred:

  • Good working knowledge Python (or other modeling language) and relational databases

  • Interest and passion for investing and the financial markets

  • Familiarity with fixed income trading workflows, data, pricing and market engagement models

  • Expertise and knowledge of MSRB and TRACE data
