About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Reporting & Analytics, Value Chain Planning & Optimization, this role will be responsible for developing and implementing digital solutions and data automation to support the use of advanced analytics and visualization tools that promote commercial competence, operational improvement, aid in strategic decision making and drive value for Cenovus.

What you’ll do:

• Combine refining subject matter expertise and knowledge of markets and fundamentals with data science to develop models and tools that can be used for both diagnostic and predictive analytics to improve the commercial competence of Cenovus’ value chain

• Use open-source packages such as C# and R/Python to develop models to enhance business data analysis and value chain reporting

• Develop and maintain a database of Value Chain Planning & Optimization inputs and outputs to build sensitivities and identify trends

• Develop data visualizations with a self-serve analytic component, including the ability to rapid prototype visualizations

• Partner with Cenovus data science teams and other Commercial and Downstream partners and actively participate in projects that could include deep learning of value chain networks

• Ability to communicate and present complex data concepts and findings simply and concisely to leadership

• Commitment to continuous learning to keep pace with emerging trends

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally eligible to work in Canada/US

• A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in an intermediate to senior level role working with PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau or other similar software

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical field is considered an asset

• Experience with cloud data management, data wrangling, data modelling, data visualization

• Experience in implementing a digital solution such as dashboards, information management and other decision-making visual analytical tools

• Refining experience or knowledge would be considered an asset

• Ability to educate and mentor a broad and diverse audience on data analysis topics and new ways of working

• Proven experience delivering in an iterative and agile fashion

• Computer programming skills is considered an asset (SQL, Python, Gitlab)
