Job Description

The field of payments is highly dynamic and rapidly evolving, with an influx of innovative ideas consistently entering the market. The intense demand for fresh solutions in this sphere indicates that it is set to be a hotbed of innovation for the coming 5 to 10 years. As a dominant force in the payment industry, VISA is swiftly transforming into a technology company, channeling significant investments into this sector.

The Identity Solutions development team at VISA is tasked with the creation of essential risk and fraud prevention applications and services. This includes the generation of ideas, the design and development of architecture, and the testing of products, applications, and services that aid Visa clients with solutions geared towards the detection, prevention, and mitigation of fraud within Visa and the payment systems of Visa clients.

This role requires a motivated individual with expertise in software engineering and a deep understanding of Big Data, Database technologies. The candidate will play a major role in leading hands-on software engineering activities such as POCs, design, documentation, development, and testing of new features. The candidate should be adaptable and willing to change tasks based on the needs of the team. Additionally, you will provide guidance and support to junior team members. The position is based in Austin, TX, USA

Essential Functions

  • Work on emerging technologies, building distributed applications

  • Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven solutions.

  • Drive development effort End-to-End for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.

  • Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved

  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

  • Partner with Product on implementation strategy.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
•5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least
2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD,
MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
•6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years
of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of Software
Development Experience or a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of Software
Development Experience.
•Proficiency in Java is a must.
•Experience in leading, building and supporting scalable and reliable data
solutions using modern big data and ML/AI technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
in an agile manner is a must.
•Knowledge and experience working with REST/JSON-RPC services, SQL, and
NoSQL database required.
•Experience programming in at least one or more in Python, Scala and Go is a
must.
•Experience with source control, bug tracking, build and deployment tools such
as JIRA, Git, Maven, Jenkins, and Artifactory is desired.
•Hands-on experience developing and maintaining machine learning lifecycle:
data preprocessing and feature extraction, model training and evaluation, and
deployment and monitoring is a plus.
•Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 130,100.00 to 188,750.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
