The Nielsen Company is the largest global measurement company in the world with unique measurement technologies, assets, and data that make it one of the most interesting and challenging places for a measurement scientist to work. Data Science is core to what Nielsen does, and our research projects have high visibility in directly impacting the results of our business and our clients.    This position will help develop innovative, statistically sound and cost effective methodologies in support of the strategic business initiatives. This role will play a key role in designing approaches for data collection, respondent recruitment, and panelist retention.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test new panel methods for audience measurement of streaming video content.
  • Use both qualitative and quantitative assessment methods to evaluate, test, and improve data collection methods and recruitment approaches.
  • Balance cost, quality, and schedule requirements to design measurement methods and approaches. Adapt as needed.
  • Correspond and communicate with internal departments and vendors regarding project requirements and schedules.
  • Design, manage and analyze complex panel data including developing data files, conducting quality reviews , data editing, documentation, weighting, and imputation
  • Plays key role in developing and documenting new methodologies. Present methodologies to internal stakeholders and clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (preferred) in quantitative social sciences field, such as Statistics, Survey Methodology, Sociology or related field.
  • Quantitative research and analysis skills,including statistical software and programming (e.g. Python, R, SQL)
  • 5+ years experience in survey or behavioral research in an applied setting, with 3+ years in relevant industry with emphasis on consumer behavior, market research, audience measurement or panel recruitment and data collection methodologies.
  • 5+ years experience in sampling, variance estimation, bias reduction techniques, imputation, weighting.
  • High motivation with demonstrated capacity to work on multiple projects with set deadlines, under pressure.
  • Collaborative team player with willingness and desire to work with global cross-functional teams of varying sizes.
  • Creative aptitude and ability and desire to explore opportunities for new research innovations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required for presenting to and collaborating with groups of diverse backgrounds.
