The Quality Control Specialist executes a range of workstreams in delivering the design and implementation of BT group’s data governance strategy, advancing the organisation's thinking of data governance concepts and understanding of the benefits of data governance policies and procedures.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Bristol or London following a hybrid working model of 2 days a week in the office and 2 days a week working remotely

You'll have the following accountabilities

  • Drives the data governance strategy roadmap and enables its implementation.
  • Executes processes to monitor data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Leads the documenting and implementing of data governance policies, standards, and procedures in existing and new data environments.
  • Acts as a technical specialist on security best practices and recommends changes to enhance security and reduce risks.
  • Leads collaboration efforts with key stakeholders to ensure acceptance and sponsorship for data governance policy.
  • Facilitates the development, implementation, and business adoption of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the BT group.
  • Contributes to a culture of data across the BT group and leads on the implementation of various data projects.
  • Mentors other data governance professionals, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource.
  • Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in data governance.

The skills you’ll need to succeed

  • Understanding of data privacy requirements to ensure internal data policies and external regulation is adhered to
  • Commercial experience of the following technologies; Google cloud platform. AWS, dataplex, collibra and JIRA.
  • Background using and applying data management best practice including use of  maturity models such as DCAM/CDMC.
  • Exposure working on complex multi-year, multi-stream data programmes
  • Experience in the delivery of data management/data governance capabilities, such as metadata management, data quality management, data ownership, data lineage.
  • Data Security and Privacy: Knowledge of data security protocols, encryption, access controls, and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance.
  • Ethical Considerations: Awareness of ethical considerations related to data handling, including data bias and responsible AI practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Experience of delivery using Agile methodology
