POSITION:  Junior Data Engineer

LOCATION: Mahwah, NJ

Reporting to the Manager for Decision Science, the successful candidate will be experienced in working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and proficient in Python programming. The Junior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining robust data pipelines, ensuring the availability and reliability of data for analysis, modeling, and decision-making purposes.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform to support the needs of the Decision Science team.
  • Collaborating closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data workflows.
  • Implementing best practices for data ingestion, storage, and transformation to ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency.
  • Optimizing and tuning existing data pipelines for improved performance and efficiency.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting data pipeline issues, ensuring timely resolution to minimize disruptions.
  • Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data engineering and cloud computing.

 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks for data processing and manipulation (e.g., pandas, numpy, Apache Beam).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL principles, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn) preferred, but not required
  • Experience with AWS, Snowflake, or Tableau preferred, but not required

 

 

Schedule: Hybrid Ways of Working (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - office days; Wednesday and Friday - choice days)

 

Recruitment Salary Range: $60,000-$77,000

 

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized components, including location, skills, experience, and market factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus in addition to a full range of medical/health, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick/personal, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position”.
