Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • Namibian Citizen;
  • Degree in Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or Financial Mathematics;
  • 3 - 4 years in a credit risk environment in the Banking, Credit or Finance sector;
  • Good understanding of credit risk concepts such as: Economic capital, Expected Loss, PD’s and LGD;
  • Understand the drivers of credit risk across diverse lending portfolios;
  • Proficient in data analytics utilising respective tools like SQL, R, Python etc.;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Computer literate;
  • Good interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent numerical ability;
  • Excellent Time Management skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong team player.

Job Description:

Credit Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify, monitor, and assess credit-related risks and other risks the business is exposed to.
  • Ensure credit approvals comply with the relevant lending framework and applicable legislation.
  • Conduct in-depth credit assessments of new and existing employers.
  • Maintain and update Employer, Risk & Compliance databases.

Data Analysis & Modelling:

  • Extract, clean, and transform large datasets from various sources to support credit risk analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Perform complex credit modelling calculations, including predictive models to assess borrower behavior, predict loan performance, and identify potential default risks.
  • Continuously research and assess new processes for model development and enhancement.
  • Analyse borrower segments to identify opportunities for targeted marketing, risk management strategies, and product development.
  • Perform in-depth portfolio analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of concern, providing actionable insights to management.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by conducting regular data audits, validation checks, and quality control measures.
  • Utilize statistical techniques to perform hypothesis testing, trend analysis, and other advanced data analysis tasks that inform strategic decisions.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Design and implement automated reporting tools and dashboards to streamline data reporting and enhance the timeliness of information delivery.
  • Perform ad-hoc, monthly, and quarterly credit-related reporting to Management.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with relevant data reporting requirements specific to microlending.
  • Engage with external service providers to ensure appropriate levels of best practice benchmarking and model review.
  • Conduct market intelligence and provide recommendations to Management.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on compliance and the interpretation of data report

Collaboration & Support:

  • Provide support to the Operations, Collections & Sales Team.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to achieve personal and business-wide results.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination across departments.
