Job Description: SAP Technical Manager – Business Technology Platform

Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Manager to lead our SAP Technology, Platform and Governance domain, with a focus on leveraging the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and Artificial Intelligence techniques to drive digital transformation and innovation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading the governance for SAP Technical development and lead the initiatives in the SAP Cloud platforms and Enterprise architecture.

Job Summary

The SAP Technical Manager oversees SAP Development Governance in S/4HANA, guiding Finance organization engineering teams to adhere to best practices and enterprise standards. This role leads a team of SAP developers and consultants, ensuring successful delivery of technology and artificial intelligence initiatives. Working closely with business, engineering, and product management stakeholders, the SAP Technical Manager understands requirements, designs technical solutions, and directs the team to deliver optimized solutions for performance, reliability, and security. Additionally, they provide ongoing support within the organization.

The ideal candidate will also lead the team through the annual upgrade cycles for S4 HANA in the cloud, provide the guidance on the effective utilization of CI/CD for S4 HANA, Rev-trac that is currently used at Autodesk.

The candidate is also responsible to evaluate and implement the offerings on the SAP Business Technology Platform such as Application Development, Low-code/no-code tools like SAP Build for creating applications and automating processes, Data and Analytics and SAP AI Core for deploying and scaling AI models.

Should have a strong technical and functional background in SAP modules order to cash, accounting etc and be able to wear multiple hats for solutioning, design, development, reviews, testing etc.

Need a high level of collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders including but not limited to Project teams, Business teams, Solution architects, System integrator, Operations etc.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and expertise for SAP implementations, upgrades, and migrations
• Design and oversee the implementation of SAP solutions, including S/4HANA, BTP, and other SAP products
• Develop technical strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives
• Lead architectural decisions and ensure adherence to best practices and standards

BTP Expertise

• Spearhead the adoption and implementation of SAP Business Technology Platform
• Leverage BTP capabilities to extend and integrate SAP and non-SAP applications
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions using BTP services
• Optimize use of BTP for Data Analytics and AI/ML besides the strategies for Clean Core.

Team Management

• Lead and mentor a team of SAP technical professionals
• Oversee resource allocation and capacity planning for SAP projects
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team

Project Management

• Manage complex SAP implementation and migration projects
• Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and timelines
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs

Client Relations

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients on SAP technology matters
• Present technical solutions and strategies to Finance Leadership.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders

Minimum Qualification

• Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in SAP technical roles, with at least years in a leadership position.
• Extensive knowledge of SAP technologies, including S/4HANA, BTP, and NetWeaver.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their integration with SAP.
• Experience with SAP BTP services and development tools.
• Proficiency in ABAP programming and other relevant programming languages.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Preferred Qualification

• SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP BTP)
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and DevOps practices
• Basic understanding of Generative AI and Machine Learning trends and technology.
• Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning Programming Frameworks, like TensorFlow or scikit
• Programming skills like Java, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS, Jupyter Notebook, ABAP

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen to drive SAP technology initiatives and leverage the full potential of the SAP Business Technology Platform.
