The Data & Analytics department transforms raw data into actionable insights to drive informed decision-making and optimize business operations. The Azure Data Engineer will support these goals by designing, implementing, and managing scalable data solutions on the Azure platform, ensuring efficient data processing, storage, and retrieval. This role will enhance the department's ability to deliver high-quality analytics and maintain robust data infrastructure.

What will you do in this role?

As an Azure Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data storage and processing solutions on the Azure platform. You will work with modern data warehouse (MDW) technologies, big data, and lakehouse architectures to ensure our data solutions are secure, efficient, and optimized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement modern data warehouse (MDW) and lakehouse architectures on the Azure platform.

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory.

  • Manage and optimize data storage solutions using Azure Data Lake Storage.

  • Develop and manage big data processing using Azure Databricks.

  • Write complex SQL queries and scripts for data manipulation and extraction.

  • Develop Python scripts for data processing and automation tasks.

  • Implement medallion architecture to organize data into bronze, silver, and gold layers.

  • Ensure data solutions are secure, including data encryption, access controls, and compliance with data governance policies.

  • Monitor data solutions to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Develop and maintain CICD pipelines.

  • Optimize data solutions for cost, performance, and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on Azure technologies.

  • Strong proficiency in modern data warehouse (MDW) and big data technologies.

  • Expertise in designing and implementing lakehouse architectures.

  • Proficient in SQL and Python programming.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Databricks.

  • Deep understanding of medallion architecture and its implementation.

  • Knowledge of data security best practices, including encryption and access control.

  • Experience with monitoring and optimizing data solutions on the Azure platform.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Data Engineer certification or similar.

  • Experience with other data tools and technologies in the Azure ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.

Role Factors:

The position is full-time with remote work options, requiring in-office presence three days per week
